Thomson Dow

He moves better than Tarranto or Hopper on todays performance. Some genuine Pendles like moves. Didnt know he had it in him. Dare i say it was a good to great game. Well done!

gets the ball but no physical presence - did he lay a tackle chase anyone down? Type of player you do not want long term but shows enough to keep you interested.

He has some traits we could really use but can he develop into a consistent AFL player?

Must play him the next two games and get a better idea, nothing to lose now, we have to look forward not back.

I saw some real class yesterday from this guy that gives me more hope than any of our midfield.

Came into the team to play a role, and play a role is exactly what he did.

21 disposals. 8 of them contested, only Dusty and Shai had more. More clearances than anyone in the team except Dusty. The same number of inside 50's as Graham and Prestia combined. 9th in the team for Pressure Acts. 76% Disposal efficiency, 11th in the team. 3 clangers, but more than half the team had 3 or more - most of those who had less barely touched the ball.

Thought his first half was great, but fell away along with the rest of the team after half time. Like many of our kids, he has the tools but needs time in the 1sts to adjust to the demands and pace of the senior game, and to gel with his teammates.

Is he the next Cotch? No. But I reckon it was a really solid performance which should keep him in the team for next week.

Cotch and Hopper to come back next week.

Doesnt deserve to get dropped but will in all likelihood get kicked back to the VFL.

Yeah i don't think he gets a spot next year on the list but you couldn't possibly drop him based on yesterday
I dont think he deserves to be dropped but I cant see them making the call on Graham or Pickett. Interesting to see if Mini wants to set any standards going into the coaching selection.

Only he and coaching panel knows what role the players were supposed to have and if they dropped their bundles.

How many ‘non-elite’ players can you carry if you want to win a flag. In assessing every player, the question to be asked is can they be a premiership player.

Well let’s think, maybe Castagna (3 flags), Butler (1 flag), special mention Townsend (1 flag), Broad (3 flags), Nankervis (2 flags), Graham (2 flags), Soldo (1 flag), Pickett (2 flags), McIntosh (2 flags), Caddy (1 flag) - I may have got the number of flags mixed up, but that’s plenty of ‘non-elite’ players and I reckon I have missed a few.

If he got the same number of chances as Ross, KMac and Graham he'd have a BOG by now.
If he got the same number of chances as you, he'd be a Legend of the Game, with a statue outside the G.

Thompson Dow has the ability
Problem is with the club , not the player in this instance.

We’ll agree to disagree on a few there. Broad for a start. Nankervis. Pickett in 2019 could have won the Norm Smith. And so on and so forth.

In each of those flag years, you could argue as I do that each of those players were elite for large parts of their respective seasons. They made a difference. Shame some of them didn’t go on with it for longer. In Butler’s case, we let him go.

You and I have different views of elite and that’s fine. Everyone has an opinion.

Castagna would have won the norm smith if he kicked straight in 2017.
