Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

For me i pick loose
We need better young players and this is our last oppurtunity for a few years lets take what we can get .
On the other side if we where playing better and haddin lost our coach i would say win.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Dean Cox is about to turn 28, playing at all-Australian level for a bottom 4 side. Time to trade?

I don't need to go to meetings to see whats unravelling right in front of me. I sat 5 rows from the boundary and I saw everything. I was able to predict many plays that night and theres no doubt WC came to throw that game. WCE aren't as bad as everyone including the media thinks they are.

Or maybe they are, like us they are bad enough that they don't need to tank.

I haven't read the thread because I can already guess the contents and the amount of times "deluded ferals" get used by those still shattered that RFC beat the West Coast.

If we continue to play the kids and the core team that will be with us for a couple more years, and these kids start winning games, then I am all for it. Let them go out there and let them win games. These kids are our future. Trying to instil a losing mentality into them during their formative years will just help the Richmond Cancer get a strong foothold into this batch.

By no means should we bring in players who wont be with us next year just to win a match. Just play the kids and coach them to win games. That's all this club needs right now.

Well put.

Agree a hundred times over. I thoroughly enjoyed singing the club song last Saturday night and hope to do it a few more times this season. Go Toigs!!

I finally voted so I’ve see the poll results, I’m shocked by the result

Not shocked at all really

Clearly some people need to spend more time on the junior footballers page. I was about 1/3 through Burgatron’s article on the top 20 prospects when all I could think was “tank, tank, tank, tank, tank”

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

I have no problems winning if we do it by playing the kids.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

If TW was to remain for the rest of the season, then we may as well have tanked. But with a new man in charge, a win under the belt, then surely as many wins as we can get would be better for the future for kids like Cotchin, Rance, even Deledio, Tambling, etc; than maintaining the stigma of a loser. And for what? Pick 19 - BIG DEAL! Go for the WIN.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

I think the people that want us to win are struggling with reality. Should we tell them the truth about Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny?
The lower the pick = a better player = a better team = finals = premiership. That is the recipe, plain and simple.

I believe it gives you the opportunity to select "the" better player. But we all know that its no ironclad guarantee, don't we?
In most cases "the" player still needs development. That's the main area we need and can improve.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Great, let's tank. A year of losses instilling a losing culture into the new kids just so we can recruit another JON. Brilliant.

Funny then, I didn't realise Buddy played for us.

Well said Willo :clap

Ah that it was all black and white TTT ;)

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

All we can do is select a young side for the future. I'm on board with that. Now to *smile* and moan because that young side won a game, I'm not on board with that.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

well we didnt tank last yr we won many meaningless games and that sure fixed up the losing culture now didnt.

the only thing that gives you winning culture is cattle and we dont have it.

i dont see people crying about cotchin rance and what should have amounted to one of ward selwood or pears. hmm i wonder where those players were taken and what process happened for us to get them. would people give up cotchin for a few meaningless games against crap sides. whats that i hear, no.
some shouldnt have a problem they think we can only draft jon types.

wheres the eagles on the ladder for that matter wheres north and freo yep those wins mean heaps now dont they. what possible difference does a close win or close loss make when playing in such crap games against such crap teams.

when you have a team full of kids that actually crushes these sides and is at least capable of pushing the top sides to the limit you then know its time to play to win.

We should've lost last night. Woul'dve been nice to have got an extra pick hence being able to delist 1 more dud from the list. We blew it. Cheap wins mean nothing. Do we need another reality check? I hope we get one next round. Maybe some will then come to realise we just aren't good enough and accept the fact that drastic change is still required to move forward.

the saints could be due for a loss.
