I gotta ask...who in their right mind schedules an election on the same weekend as two regular music festivals??? Didn't they read the calendar?

The festivals are Ian's Earthcore and Queenscliff Music Festival, by the way.

You can vote anywhere in this great state on election day mate

mate, do you know where the earthcore global carnival is? it's on the edge of a forest on the banks of the goulburn river... it's a 30 minute drive down a dirt track from a tiny town called "undera" (this town only has a pub and a general store). there is no phone reception let alone a polling booth!!! but not only is earthcore on election day, it's on ND day!!! the election and ND day needs to be re-scheduled

Can't believe Kim Beazleys guffaw at offering his condolances to US White House heavy"Karl Rove" today instead of Rove McManus who as we all know sadly lost his wife Belinda earlier in the week and had her funeral today.

Nice one Kim, you're really on top of things. :p

And he's trying to unseat little Ronny Howard? :cutelaugh

I find it so hard to believe this, but John Howard is in Hanoi, and he is saying that the Australian public now support nuclear power.

Did he ask me? NO!

Did he ask any of you? I doubt it!

Where does this little piece of conservative garbage get his ideas from?

His time is coming......

Even worse, he is reputed to sponsor Collingwood.

Regarding this current Victorian State Election, there is a something of great concern to me.

This area of concern is a candidate personally endorsed by Steve Bracks called Khalil Eideh. He is alleged to be a rabid and public antisemite, and preselected for a number 1 upper house slot. THIS MEANS HE IS VIRTUALLY GUARANTEED ELECTION.

Eideh is alleged to have publically sworn loyalty to Bashar Assad - the 'president' of Syria and is alleged to have chaired functions fundraising for HIZBULLAH. He is alleged to have described Jews as 'satan's dogs' and called for 'holy war' against the opponents of Islam.

When people are voting, think about the message that we send. Also, below are a few links to articles about Khalil Eideh and a link to protest to Steve Bracks over the matter.

I am all for immigrants from foreign countries making a new home & prospering in Australia. I also understand that descendants of immigrants would want to carry a link to their ancestral homes. However, I do worry if this person, Khalil-Eideh, does carry the views that have been alleged.

I would certainly welcome a public statement by him stating his tolerance for all peoples, races & religions, including the Jewish people & Israel. If he does this, I would gladly lend him my support.

I hope that you can understand that this is a very large concern for me.

....yeah?
From who?

The Labour Party are too busy fighting internally, to worry about fighting Howard in a Federal election...

The ironic thing is, the same people who complain that he didn't ask us about nuclear energy and that he is a conservative piece of garbage for taking it upon himself to speak on behalf of the Australian pubic re nuclear energy.....are the same people who want him to speak on behalf of the Australian people and say 'sorry'.
Seems that he is only supposed to speak on "behalf of the Australian people" when it suits....

dont worry my friend, his time is coming, the karma will snot him!

I'm not sure Rudd is the right man either but I'm certain the ALP cannot win with Beazley.

I think Rudd/Gillard and co. can see it too and I think come Monday, they'll have a new leader.

The ALP dilemna is "do we stick with a bloke we like who can't win" or "replace him with a bloke we despise but who may be able to win"?

Interesting times ahead.

Beasley has absolutely no hope. Does anyone listen when he talks? He pretty much only gets media coverage after another of his gaffes.

Rudd is actually more similar to Howard and presents ok and seems intelligent. He certainly doesn't have the buffoon image and threatening manner of Latham.

However, Rudd and Gillard really should have waited until Beasley again got slaughtered at the next election then assumed the leadership mantle by default - giving a full 3 years to have a proper tilt at the 2010 election.

I still think little Johnny is safe despite the greater opposition that Rudd/Gillard will provide.

I will LMAO if Beasley gets another gig.

Too right!

The thing is, if his own party despise him.....then do we really want him as our PM? :-X

Mark Latham says this:

He recalls a meeting with foreign affairs spokesman Mr Rudd, whose mother had just died: "Even though he was crying, he kept on lobbying to be shadow treasurer."
Mr Latham describes Kevin Rudd as "a terrible piece of work", a fanatical networker addicted to the media "worse than heroin".

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/bitter-loser-or-brave-tellall/2005/09/15/1126750070502.html

And this from the man that was their great white hope at the last election..... :cutelaugh

Personally, and this is just my opinion....if the ALP were to give Howard a shake at the next election, then Gillard would be the way to go, purely because we haven't had a female PM before, and many people might want to try something different.
Howard has been in the seat for a while now, and people always like to change sooner or later, no matter how well the sitting member does.

Not sure that Latham is a good reference for anything L'pool and I am surprised you are using anything he says to emphasize a point.
