The NDIS is the best thing that has happened to the wheelchair bound person that i look after, without it she would have no decent wheelchair, no transport, no physio, no OT, no cleaner, no leg braces, and a few other things. It just needs some streamlining and the rorters exposed
That fills my heart with joy Ralphie.
Medicare, Superannuation and the NDIS are three tremendous initiatives that have made All Australian lives better, we can thank the Labor party for that.

So you do not care one iota that to process & come a final decision on this latest illegal lot would be the vicinity of a million dollars. That mill is tax payers money & they not like paying taxes for the above.
So what do you propose? You realise these boats won't have locator beacons right? So how much money will it cost to monitor every square kilometre of coast line? How many billions of $'s of taxpayers money?
You have to accept that unless you spend countless billions, then you won't have a 100% infallible system. This goes for any type of security, whether thats border security, internet security etc. Ie. you accept a lower cost to fund it, but with a risk that something (or in this case someone) slips through the net.
The thing that gets me about the boats is that when politicians and others talk about the subject they never talk about those in the boats as people.
No one talks about what happens to these people who get turned around.
For every one of them that is an “economic refugee” that so many talk about there are 100s who are not, they are desperate people doing a desperate thing.
They are *smile* ing human beings with the same worth as any of us.
The lives lost at sea is a minute aspect of it, they are going back to nothing.
Governments never talk about attacking the problem, just the symptom which is refugees. The previous government spent billions on keeping people out and financed it by cutting aid and support to where they were coming from.

Do you not know, that when the boats were stopped, the asylum seekers just jumped on planes, they've been coming here in their droves ever since.

This saved lives & filling the pocket of ruthless people smugglers. Now Labor back in & the boats are back again.
