Talking Politics

*smile*. The Pollies you mentioned and the one you insinuated, Elbowsnkneesy had plenty of knowledge and information beforehand to modify / make alternative comments before they made their commitments. Elbows simply continued to lie over and over again to the public, regardless of whether his changes of policy would be regarded as a positive or a negative by the voters. Or whether circumstances changed that forced the " broken promises " in regard to his whizz bang electricity price cut, his super changes or the tax cuts. He and his treasurer lied, lied and lied again and again to the voters. Firstly to get into power and once in power nothing else matters other than to make into law what you think is your entitlement. There is such a thing as bringing the mob along for the ride, let them know what you are doing and why you are doing it and strangely enough. If you are doing it right the mob will carry you along forever simply because it's right n it works for most everyone. Keep them in the dark n feed em on *smile* n you usually grow mushrooms that are probably not the magic ones.
FFS TM i mentioned two examples !! it wasn’t meant to be a comprehensive list. One was Labor and one was LNP …balanced

You don’t seem to get the point I am making so I will leave it there

By all accounts, the change to the Stage 3 isn't something the ALP had been planning. Giv asked Treasury to come up with ideas on how to ease the cost of living. Treasury came back with some but the main one they pushed was changing the Stage 3 because it had by far the biggest impact.

This has been acknowledged by the PM, who agrees it was Treasury's proposal, and by Dutton, who tried to point score on 7:30 by saying the plan to ease the cost of living wasn't the government's idea, it was Treasurys, but now the PM is trying to take the credit.

So let's put away that this was planned ages ago and it's knowingly lying because that's not coming out anywhere expect from the fringe looney Sky after Dark.

Now, on the point of broken promises and governments. Do you expect a government to keep a promise they made before an election despite things may have drastically changed, there are new factors to consider, and what was feasible before the election is no longer feasible now? You believe they should keep the promise despite it now being the wrong thing to do?

Personally, in life, footy, business and politics, you should always reevaluate your position and plans to ensure they are still the best thing to do, at least still a positive impact, in the current conditions and situation.

The concept that politicians should always keep their electioneering promises is dated. It pretty much died when Howard brough out the concept of core and non-core promises when he was called out for breaking some as soon as he won elections. Abbott buried the notion when he stated anything he said during a campaign that wasn't prepared and scripted, i.e. anything he said at a presser or on the campaign trail, shouldn't be used to hold him to account.

Libs bashing again. When will it ever end ?.

Lest we ever forget them. Well said Hippy. Hippy & his wife Robyn are our eldest sons godparents.

The Voyager post has not dropped down so if you want to read it Google ABC scroll down & it will appear.

I'll Trump you with Barnaby Joyce!!! :)
Linda Reynolds would give him run for his money. But both trumped by Marise Payne, the worst Foreign Minister in our history, gift wrapping the Pacific for the Chinese.

I'd be happy for Bill to step aside as he's had his shot
Had the same thoughts when this government got in power. But Shorten's handling of NDIS has been very good. He's very passionate about it which makes him very good in the role.

NDIS runs itself .Bill just the mouth piece & signatory for its cash flow.

NDIS is getting ripped off by shonky operators left right and centre. The clients get sub-standard care and the workers get paid a pittance. I hope Shorten shakes it up big time. All this contracting out has never saved money, they should bring more of the operation in-house and stop lining the pockets of the care industry.

I am quite familiar with a few people who get help from the NDIS and the feedback I get is that the "service providers" spend their whole time trying to provide as little service as they can for the highest amount they can extort.
