Steve Morris F/S

Geez this kids tough, surely when you play with a bloke like that has to inspire your attack on the footy, ability is one thing, attitude is something we have control over

At least this bloke gives a *smile*. He might not be the most skilful player in the team but he plays for the jumper. Some others should take note.

I will second that sentiment, Smokin'.
Interestingly, it seems that the bulk of Richmond players are incapable of being inspired by the few in the team who are fearless and relentless in their attack on the footy.

Tries hard, gives his all, but when he clears the ball from defense it tends to come back in twice as fast, has limited disposal skills and not to sure about his decision making with ball in hand, team mates with better disposal and decision making skills need to be in a position so he can lay off the ball

at least he plays with some guts, determination and resolve...he puts in..and he goes in...which is more than can say for at least a dozen other last night, who just jog around watching

We didn't have any good players last night, but Morris was among the least worst.

Astbury was good - albeit Cloke is playing like a petrified fence post at the moment - but at least he didn't find form against us. Happy with Lloyd too.

Morris should be starting in the centre & is wasted down back. We need the grunt at the center bounce & throw ins. When we do not win the ball who ever wins will earn their stripes as they will know Morris will be snapping at their heels. Pressure on the ball holder is a big factor in the game & at center bounces, ball ups ,throw ins that is where it counts. We have Thomas doing a good job there maybe Jake could supplement them in that role off the bench.

It wouldn't be such a bad thing for Dmma to trying mixing things up for a bit.
Maybe Morris in the thick of the action, where he could lay off by hand, would be a move that might herald some results.

If we need to find Morris a new role I wouldn't mind him playing tagger and getting him out of the back line. I would rather play Madonna in his place. Uses the ball a hell of a lot better, makes better decisions, still has mongrel and a bit of dash. Morris can go all day also so fitness shouldn't be a problem.

I like this idea and have thought about it for a while.

Why not try it.
Got nothing to lose .
Certainly could help Cotchin out a bit. Mccaffer wouldn't gave got away with some of his tactics if Morris was hovering around the ground.

We need to find another player to play Morris"s role and I'm not sure who that could be. Some if you have mentioned McDonough , I think others maybe Hellbig, maybe even Grimes? He can play on talls or smalls.

What I worry though with Morris is if we try him in this role, the way he plays the game, the fact that he must be playing injured with that shoulder, that we may do another Maricon him and cook him.

We know Dimma will not try this.

I would even like to see Rance in a new role when he returns- played on a wing and when Deleido returns play him at HB again until we can find another kid in the reserves to play that role.

We need good ball uses down back.

When you play in the backline the targets are moving but when you play in the forward line, half the time the targets are still.

It then becomes barrell time!

What is actually going on with his shoulder? He seems to flare up every game and it's pretty hard to watch to be honest. Was son operation planned?

Im annoyed with the club that they don't get him fixed. Unless Morris is refusing to go for an op.
We could upgrade miles and have Morris right hopefully for finals.
It also gives Dea and Batchelor an opportunity

I would have thought that if the player has an injury that requires surgery they can't refuse to have the operation and still expect to be selected to play every week. I like the idea of upgrading Miles, but at present the possible replacements in Dea and Batchelor aren't viable. Dea's recovering from an injury and with his history you'd want to give him some time in the VFL before slotting him into a senior role. Batchelor has just completed a suspension at VFL level and probably needs at least another game or two at that level before being ready for seniors, and I've got doubts he has the ability to play the Morris role.

Anyone know how Morris shoulder is holding up?
Hope we dont go into the game with Morris who is obviously not 100%
