A true indication of how far we have come.

Serious question, how far down the pecking order is he? Player number 38 on our main list?

That's a great sign because if your 38th listed talent player is in your top 3 for hard work and preparation, you are building the right way.

Over rating him there Scoop. He's the weakest player on our list and that includes Elton. I'd prefer to have played VFL listed players like Aarts in front of him he's dropped that far. Reckon he was the worst player on the field on Saturday.

But his low possession form in the vfl is simply an extension of his level of possession form when he was playing afl. His fall from what he was doing in his first 2 seasons is incredible.

Can't see him getting many more games at AFL level unless it's to cover a bit of an injury crisis. The quality of the list has moved past him and he seems on a downward slide from his best. And even at his best, he was probably one of those blokes who was a very solid state league player, but not quite up to AFL level. No shame in that, most of us never even get to that level and he is far from alone being in that category.

Played 87 games dont think he has any kids

Frightening isn't it? Mostly in our 2012- 2015 window.

4 years of youth development lost right there.

Add 6 years combined of Batch and Hunt and a couple of years of Hammer and you realise why we were the worst at playing, developing and keeping kids on our list the first 7 years of Dimma's tenure.

Those 7 years have led to us finishing 3rd after the H&A season. We must have been pretty good at developing talent before Hardwick arrived and must have been amazing in the last 6 months.

A lot of talent was latent eg: Butler. Be nice if he'd been given some of Morris' me time as a failed "defensive forward".

As I've alluded to previously it is amazing what a proper game plan and non drone slanted selection policy can do to assist the on field drivers at the club.

Oh and adding non Hardwick tainted players in Nank, Prestia and Caddy also helps.

The alternative view is that Bolton, George, Broad etc werent ready and needed some Fly treatment last year. We then added a bunch of talent including Prestia and Caddy. New game plan, team spirit, tackling focus all played their part.

Of course this doesn't fit the narrative.

Oh, losing Griff was unplanned but had profound postive consequences for our forward setup too.

big claim with zero evidence to back it up. I call bull on all 3, playing, developing and keeping. and all 7 years? bull on bull. You might be able to find one or two if you dug down into the data. But it doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Bottom line is Morris should have never ever been given a 3 year contract at the time and consequently he's taken up a list spot that has prevented another youngster being recruited and tried. It was a poor list management decision. I like to think we've learnt from it. Haven't seen too many fringe-dwelling 25yo players given 3 year contracts of late.

Jinxy put up stats to prove the claims.

BTW you can add gifting games to cooked Newman and Chaplin as more sucking out of development opportunities for our kids.

I reckon Fly has developed our kids nicely in the twos over the past couple of years. That's often the best place to do it.

No, Jinxy put up stats that you are using to suit your argument.

the only example you gave, Butler, was injured then struggling in the VFL.

We are top 4 now so clearly something is going right
