Steve Morris F/S

He was brought back for his first AFL game after a very serious knee injury. The whole team was pantsed by the Crows, but, of course, you single out Steve. Yer, he must have been totally responsible. Logic so bad it's got me laughing out loud.
Hey laughing boy, this is the Morris thread, who should I be singling out?

I was at the game Morris stunk in the forward line. Yet again .We were basically playing with 17 0n the ground.

Good starjumps evertime Lever took a mark over him but.

Don't call me 'boy'! How do you know I'm not a black American?

I've agreed he played a poor game, as shown by being dropped by Dimma. Obvious, never denied or disputed. The team got a bath. Just as obviously many other players had poor games but you only cite Morris and his stats. So no one else was poor on the stats sheet. I could take a look but it's pretty obvious more than him were to blame. Crows can dominate at AO.Whereas I have pointed out several of our SFs had poor games last week, and are not in great form recently, or lack the tank to play 4 qrts yet. Lack of tackles, poor conversion.

A player coming back from such a LT injury as Morris was, can be found out at the top level for a combination of reasons: mental as well as physical. Morris may well be in improved shape and form by now.

Butler had 4Ds last week at 25 DE% (although I fully acknowledge he may well have been affected by that punch; who knows?) However, you never cited this.

From Dimma's comments, neither Stengle or Morris are ready for consideration yet. So I await his selections and brilliant strategies to curb Carlscum on Sunday.

You have conflated last week's game with my comments on Starjump Steve. As for the rest of your post, whoopee doo, its your opinion.

I think these might have been your words - "I don't care if we don't make the 8 - just want to see new blood being rotated through the team."

Be happy on Sunday. Enjoy. Or maybe just get to the Auskick U10s where the kids are not told the score. You'll see plenty of the above.

Whoopee doo, its your opinion.

Steves best footy was 2012/2013 so that's now 4-5 seasons ago. He,ll be moved on at seasons end.

As I stated initially, I am only interested in winning this game. I've explained my POV and given the reasons several times. Was never interested in some biopic on Morris, evaluating his career or extensive analysis of his merits. Just stopping the Bloos game-plan. Can't see how young guys who cannot lay a tackle, run out a game, or kick more goals than behinds, are going to deliver anything other than, potentially, another loss.

Bloos are going better than in our first match: Kreuzer, Gibbs, Murphy, Cripps, Casboult, Silvagni, Docherty, Simpson, Marchbank and now Jones all up and about.

We could have won several of these close games but for a malfunctioning FL.

He's been rubbish for the 5 years before his LT injury. Why would he suddenly be the solution, particularly in our forward line where he has shown to be clueless at this level. Time to burn that theory and move on. If we desperately need yet another small player in that forward line bring in Lennon. At least he's young and hasn't been given anywhere near the opportunities Morris has.

First comment is just hypberbole, nonsense. Morris has played well down back where he is far better suited. Never been in favour of him as a long-term answer up forward because he lacks enough skill and evasion to be a threat. However, I am focussing on this game and beating the Bloos, only.

Posted elsewhere that I'm in favour of bringing Lennon in for Castagna - more reliable mark and kick, also looking at VFL highlights over few weeks, he seems to be exerting more pressure, team acts, if wet will reduce the need for pace etc. - but if Butler cannot perform about 200% better than last game, Bloos will open us up. Morris would at least make their backs more accountable. Rioli in poor form now too, but still chases and tackles at least.

Anyway, all irrelevant. Supposedly Dimma has said both Moro and Stengle not ready.Expect Lennon and Floss for George and one of Lloyd/Butler/Menadue?

You're farting again, Leon.

Moro hasn't performed in any section of the ground for multiple seasons.

Morris is going to be the difference between winning or losing against the Blues? Hey maybe he'll be best on ground and on that basis we 'll lock him up for another 3 year contract.

This is a crock. Butler couldn't get his hands on the ball last game (his worst for the season) but he sill had 23 pressure acts, 3rd best behind Lambert on 30 and Cotch on 24. If it's defensive pressure you're after there is no way Morris is going to provide more than Butler or Rioli or even Castagna who's pressure acts have been very good overall during the season. You can no longer argue defensive pressure as a reason to bring in Morris as a forward as there are others who have proven much better than him in that area at AFL level. The only spot for Morris is back line but no way he pushes out any of the current back line particularly trying to fit Vlastuin back into the team.

As I told you before, in all matters of flatulence, I defer to your absolute expertise.

In consistency and quality, Morris' performances have far excelled your very fluid opinions.

But apparently Dimma only said he wouldn't pick Stengle because he didn't want to win by 10 goals.
