Steve Morris F/S

By what you can judge from afar, he appears a really good bloke who gives his best. Unfortunately his best is not AFL standard. He is contracted until the end of 2017. So lets hope he can improve and when called on to fill in he can perform a role.

Chances are Stevie will play the majority of the year in the VFL and that's not a bad thing for a couple of reasons
Totally agree.
He deserves respect for having been one of our own real warriors.
And I daresay even if he does end up playing mainly VFL he'll still try as hard and continue to put his body on the line.

Well said Tenacious.

So we have two more years of Steve Morris?

What an amzing audition for the vacant job of club runner during matchdays
Seen enough.
Steve can run, is very vocal theres no one that deserves the job more sign him up for another 5 yrs as matchday runner

With the added bonus that he'll never get pinged for running into an area where the ball is.

I wonder if he's been instructed to take on a "coaching" role or its just his style?

his best had him in AA contention a couple of years ago.
not sure whether his standard has dropped or whether his shaky ball use is more exposed with our slower ball use.

With all due respect, if we have Morris playing in the 22 this year we are in more trouble than I care to think about.

I would like him to be played in the backline and to be used to strengths to see if he can get back to where he was.

Definitely his best spot is in the backline. The forward trial was a debacle. I like to think though that they we now have better options than Morris for our backline.

We didn't do him any favours by playing him for most of a season with a bung shoulder and then the failed forward experiment further lowered his stocks. At present he's no better than depth and will probably spend more time playing for the VFL side than the AFL one until his contract is up.

Will be allowed to star jump in the VFL??

I for one have got pretty sick of all the cheap shots. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit they say.
Carn said it pretty well re his treatment by the club with his shoulder and Dimma's idea to play him forward (surely due to unexpected early loss of JKing).
Agree also with posters saying he's played his best footy down back, but also that there may not be a spot for him.
However, I've always admired his courage and throwing himself in harm's way to stop an opponent or intercept the ball. He does lack skill, especially kicking, but has some pace and just maybe he could even be used for some midfield grunt. He will go in for the hard ball, chase and tackle. Could at least be a back-up if Miles got injured - ( but dread that idea).
I went to a RFC function where his father Kevin spoke this year, commenting along the way of how he has been doing it tough, like as a back having to stop the likes of Cyril and Eddie for instance.
Steve is one of ours; he's a true Tiger and son of a great one. He would never claim to be a star. So just try a bit of respect, or spare us the constant carping.
Having never been good enough to go beyond school footy, and accepting we can all get frustrated with our players at times, I feel I have little right to denigrate an AFL player who gives his all. He's definitely still one of ours who represents us gamely on the field of battle.
