Steve Morris F/S

Either he goes back and stays there the whole game and is allowed to regain confidence or he is out.

Unfortunately I don't think the forward role experiment has failed.

But who does he replace? Vluastin in his role has provided so much more and Grimes can play on small or talls !

Heeees OUT! :clap :clap
Not a backman now failed as a forward Lucky Steves level is VFL

Sorry Tl, but your incorrect.

Dima has not created to the role to get him in the side. He wants a defensive FWD as part of his game plan, team structure. The role was owned by Kinggee and Dima was hoping that FFS could fill that role. We all know he hasnt.

He dropped him a couple of weeks ago. With injured players now becoming available I am sure he will earmark someone else for the role. There are only so many players on the list. With so many injurred he has had to persist longer than I am sure he would have otherwise. Other players deep down our list dont possess the skill set or attitude to be given the role.

As for Donuts and lennon, they are a different issue. If they wont work hard enough and cant get fit enough to cover the ground and compete at enough contest's, they are regardless of possessions going to leave our structure vulnerable. It has taken this side 6 years under Dima to get the structure reliable enough to win more games than it loses. He dosnt want that compromised.

So where was I wrong? You basically agreed with me, that Morris can't fulfil the role. We all know the role Dimma wants, my point was Morris's lack of ability in the backline led him to be turned into a forward, a position he has no clue about. Donuts and Lennon are not a different issue, one of them deserves Morris's spot and thank Christ it seems Dimma is finally cottoning on. Great to see them both in. Give them time to see what they can achieve. I am confident it can't be any less than Morris has given this year.

With SM averaging 2.5 kicks and 5 handballs a game I think even if you tried not to get the ball you'd get more touches than that.

It's pretty simple really. Morris has played 76 games and showed he's not up to it. Hell they've created a position for him in the forward line because they finally realised he was no good in the backline...

They didnt create a position for him.

Dima gave FFs the role. Its the role that he wants in our stucture. Not FFS.

Donuts and Lennon have been given their shot. Hope they play well.

The point that some of us where making was that up until this week Dima didnt think they where doing enough. Whether he thinks they are, or wether he has picked the lessor of two evils isnt clear. Dima and the match committee are in the best place to judge who should and shouldnt get a game. But some think they know better.

Some happen to think Dimma has favourites that he struggles to let go. Sure Dimma and the match committee are in the best place to judge but it doesn't mean there aren't some astute observers on here who may disagree with them. it's not the first time the heirarchy have been wrong in recruitment, contracts and team selection and it won't be the last. I firmly believe if the Tiger's mantra that players are elevated and dropped from and to the VFL on form that McDonough should have been elevated a long time ago ahead of other players. So yes I, and it appears many others, do believe Dimma has been wrong in continually gifting Morris games at the expense of McDonough. And yes the position was created for Morris as Kingy's old role included kicking goals and making the play when it was your turn whereas it has seemed for Morris that it's been solely a lock down role (basically a tagger in the forward line).

I find it silly when someone tries to shut down another's argument on the basis of the coach and committee know best so we should all just shut up. I prefer arguments from those who think for themselves. That's what makes PRE such a great site, many clever posters with interesting ideas and foresight.

Downgrade him to a rookie on the same salary and let him provide his leadership to the VFL team.

Not sure this is allowed for a contracted player?

No longer a Dimma favourite.

Morro's career really is at the crossroads. Shame he has a lot of contract to run. :(
Yeah, in hindsight that contract looks pretty silly. Annoying that we have a bloke on the list that appears to have become a 'break glass in case of emergency' type. I'm tipping he won't be in the leadership group next year, either.

Like Baloo - I love Steve. He hasn't done very well this year so its right he should be dropped.

But just in case anyone was convinced he never offered anything to the team have a look at the linked highlight reel...

Yeah you got me there. I have reached a low with pulling out that old chestnut. Guess I just got tired after three years of trying to present logic when defending the club and the coach against three years of vitriol.

Funny how my lameness opened the gate for you to finely let out your interesting idea and foresight, "play's his favourites!"

My opinion is that opinion is fair, vitriol is bulldust.

The opinion that vitriol is a birth right, but those who comment against vitriol are anti forum is a thoughtful insight.

Could just leave it open for Dimma and committee to comment ;D

How about we just let Mclure and greg denim comment :blah

We should define 'favourites'...

If it means selecting your favourite buddy around the club to get a game, then no I don't believe Dimma selects favourites.

If it means selecting or rewarding particular desirable team traits / leadership traits / attitude traits, then yes he plays favourites.

Absolutely, I'm well and truly against denigrating players - I admire anyone who has the ability to play for the mighty Tigers. I certainly wish I could have! :)
