Nice, unfortunately our opponent isn't Bugs Bunny and come to think of it the wascally wabbit generally outsmarted Tazz.

Was always an interesting clash when Tazz met up with Yosemite Sam

Funny how my lameness opened the gate for you to finely let out your interesting idea and foresight, "play's his favourites!"

As far as Morris is concerned that's the only conclusion I can make. Human nature, happens to all of us in every walk of life.

I don't remember Sam and Tazz ever tangling. I did wonder in the Tazzmania TV show (yes he got his own show) why he was the same as always, yet the rest of the Devil family (Mum, Dad, brother and sister) wore clothes and spoke intelligibly, and for some reason his father acted and spoke the same as Bing Crosby.

Give this some thought...

We should define 'favourites'...

If it means selecting your favourite buddy around the club to get a game, then no I don't believe Dimma selects favourites.

If it means selecting or rewarding particular desirable team traits / leadership traits / attitude traits, then yes he plays favourites.

Yeah, the favourites tag is natural. A Beavis favourite would be a player that' follows instructions, does what he is asked to do and gives it his all even if it's to the detriment of self.

Like Baloo - I love Steve. He hasn't done very well this year so its right he should be dropped.

But just in case anyone was convinced he never offered anything to the team have a look at the linked highlight reel...

Cheers

If you :hearton him so much go get a room just keep him away from a footy field
Seen enough of FFS the jury has come back found him guilty of impersonating a footballer

Which begs the question since he has now been dropped twice recently this year, is Morris no longer doing all this. Or is it just he's given Morris more leeway because of his traits but now has run out of patience like many of us had already early on in the season? Or did McDonough and Lennon impress so much in the last game to force the change?

If Dimma said he was happy with the way he played last week, why has he been dropped? How many are on the selection, as clearly he has been overruled?

Happened last time Morris was dropped too, Hardwick publicly stated he played well.

Don't think he's been overruled its just that what he says publicly and what hew says and privately are 2 different things. The public comments are aimed at not embarrassing players except in exceptional circumstances.

I think he was selected last week purely and completely on the basis/belief that he bothers Yarran, and as he was considered one of Carlton's threats he got the nod.

Some of the venom for Morris who bleeds yellow and black is awful...

Dimma and for that matter the whole squad always praise their opposition, regardless if its 1st or 18th... They are media trained and people that critize that are deluded, why give ammunition to your upcoming opposition, equally why would you publicly bake a limited player that gives more than his talented team mates in effort...??

I for one am happy Morris will be used as depth only going forward as to get to where we want to go we need more talented players, however rubbishing guys who give it their absolute all for RFC shows more about the individual than the player who has lost more blood than most for the mighty tigers!

Absolutely spot on!
It amuses me when people try and base an argument on a totally literal transcript of what a coach (or politician or whoever) might say at a press conference.

PRE ceases to exist if we can't take every word spoken or written literally

So many of the coaches take aim at their players in press conferences, demanding more from them, as we have seen in recent weeks from the Scott brothers, Roos and Lyon. It would just be refreshing for Dimma to say "Listen Steve would be the first to say he didn't have a great game, and has some things to work on"

Its not like it a bake, just a bit of truth. Saying they played well then dropping them seems a bit of a cop out imo.

Some happen to think Dimma has favourites that he struggles to let go. Sure Dimma and the match committee are in the best place to judge but it doesn't mean there aren't some astute observers on here who may disagree with them. it's not the first time the heirarchy have been wrong in recruitment, contracts and team selection and it won't be the last. I firmly believe if the Tiger's mantra that players are elevated and dropped from and to the VFL on form that McDonough should have been elevated a long time ago ahead of other players. So yes I, and it appears many others, do believe Dimma has been wrong in continually gifting Morris games at the expense of McDonough. And yes the position was created for Morris as Kingy's old role included kicking goals and making the play when it was your turn whereas it has seemed for Morris that it's been solely a lock down role (basically a tagger in the forward line).

I find it silly when someone tries to shut down another's argument on the basis of the coach and committee know best so we should all just shut up. I prefer arguments from those who think for themselves. That's what makes PRE such a great site, many clever posters with interesting ideas and foresight.

great post
