This is the bit that frustrates me. Morris gets to almost every single contest - late, and that isn't due to his fitness, its his inability to read the play.

If he's not going to get better, it common sense to try someone else.

Yes, that's him!

What if the players left to try dont have any of the tools that are needed for the role?

ie if the players left to try in the role dont have the tank or pace to run with the the rebounding defender? Or are easilly beaten over the first ten metres? Or cant nail a tackle?

The point is if there was someone available that they though had a chance of doing the role better, then they would give them a try!

It's pretty simple really. Morris has played 76 games and showed he's not up to it. Hell they've created a position for him in the forward line because they finally realised he was no good in the backline after almost 70 games. He's 26, time to move on. We have McDonough 21 and Lennon just turned 20. If they don't have the pace to run with the rebounding defender so be it, let em work harder, let them learn what's required to make AFL level, and if they're not good enough move them on too.

I don't like being a "hater" and I have advocated for Morris but I can't see him staying in the side much longer. He is one paced and can't change direction, that is why he is easy to sidestep. He busts his gut running (in a straight line) to apply pressure but gets shrugged too easily because he can't shift his momentum. He doesn't have King's "little big man" presense either.

Sorry Tl, but your incorrect.

Dima has not created to the role to get him in the side. He wants a defensive FWD as part of his game plan, team structure. The role was owned by Kinggee and Dima was hoping that FFS could fill that role. We all know he hasnt.

He dropped him a couple of weeks ago. With injured players now becoming available I am sure he will earmark someone else for the role. There are only so many players on the list. With so many injurred he has had to persist longer than I am sure he would have otherwise. Other players deep down our list dont possess the skill set or attitude to be given the role.

As for Donuts and lennon, they are a different issue. If they wont work hard enough and cant get fit enough to cover the ground and compete at enough contest's, they are regardless of possessions going to leave our structure vulnerable. It has taken this side 6 years under Dima to get the structure reliable enough to win more games than it loses. He dosnt want that compromised.

Yes, I'm not a huge fan of his work as a forward, but I'm less of a fan of joining the internet lynch mob.

I expect Carter is on the right track, Morris gets games because he muddies the opposition's counter attacks, which relieves Dimma's anxieties somewhat around not permanently trapping the ball inside 50. Not saying it is necessarily the right decision, just trying to understand it. As you say, he is easy to side step, but it still influences the disposal.

You can bet dima wants an upgrade on FFS also.

From what Ive heard for a while now, Donuts and Lennin just dont work hard enough. Result not fit enough.

Cheap stats in the VFL is not enough. Till they can compete and cover the ground they wont get games.

Our injury list makes our current bottom 3 the preferred option.

What a load of hogwash.....Cheap stats? I've seen almost every game and they have been our most consistent cause they work hard around the ground to get to the contests..... plus their contested possessions have improved.

Morris averages a lowly 7 possies a game and he works his arse off but doesn't have footy smarts.
Newman is fit, I'm sure he works hard to but he is hopelessly out of form....
McDonough & Lennon based on their form and consistency deserve their chance....you must reward VFL form.

All I am trying to say is that Its not as simple as, they get more kicks than FFS or newman, they should play.

VFL stats are cheaper than AFL stats and stats are not the only measure that is relevant. Just getting stats doesn't = having a tank to compete at AFL level. doesn't = knowing the team structures inside out. Doesn't = a commitment to the contest. doesn't = meeting team standards. Doesn't = defensive pressure. Form in the VFL doesn't = fit a role in a winning side/structure.

Do you know what Lennon and Donuts are being asked to do to get the call up? Are they doing it? Who is playing that role in the AFL side at the moment? Can Donuts or Lennon play that role better?

It looks like the coaches think they are not up to the level that need to be.

Has anyone seen the film Idiocracy?

Every time I see Mcdonagh, Lennon or Beanie try to decipher the instructions in the huddles from Clarke or Bailey, I think of that film. (with Matt Ben and Liam alternating in the Luke Wilson role)

I think of Luke's lawyer when I hear Bailey talk.

I used to do a bit of work for the department of defence and I was once told by an Army colonel that they prefer dim country kids to bright city kids as recruits because the dim country kids ask no questions.

The city kids were questioned on commitment because they would not automatically accept what their leaders told them.

Maybe that's Matt, Ben and Liam's problem.

No problems with Kamikaze Morris though.

Disagree country kids are not dim in fact this proves they are smarter. Maybe they understand that they were born with 2 ears and only 1 mouth. ;)

The city kids understood they had only one life.

And to clarify this , it came from the colonel and it was about conformity (which he loved).

Of course not as that's the only thing going for The Liability he knows how to :-* ass

He's also known as Lucky Steve AFLs luckiest player.
Which other side would pick a player that's averaging 2 kicks 4 handballs 1 mark a game to play 12 games in 2015?
