Shane Edwards

I'd like to see Shane(180cm) end up somewhere near his namesake Tyson(179cm) over at Adelaide who's at about 81kg. 81/82 would seem about right. Be good if he ended up about the same quality also.

Thats about right TOO, which is what another 5kg Edwards need to add on. We can only hope about Eddie turning into the same quality

Big difference between a Tyson drop punt and a Shane drop punt. Saw Shane Edwards live at Cararra and that was enough for me. Must be traded.

Like I said I don't think Edwards kicking is as bad as suggested plus I reckon his hand balling is better than most.
Main issues for mine is size & experience with Shane. Speaking of Tyson, there's not much in it at the same age statistically.

What is really interesting is that it appears T.Edwards didn't have his breakout year until his 6th season! The Crows are probably pretty happy that they persevered.
We've got to get games into players like Shane, only way that they'll get better is by learning. It takes time.

12 kgs! That's a big difference for 20 year olds. He certainly needs some size/strength does Shanus.

You know those weight stats are generally worth the cyber space they're printed on. probably hasn't been updated since he was drafted. He's listed at 76kgs on the RFC website.

Edited for accuracy.

ToO like you I have a soft spot for the South Aussies, but the boy can't kick under pressure. Amazing speed and evasiveness though + can snap a goal. Maybe forward line only for Titch. The Tyson comparison doesn't work because it doesn't include turnovers/clangers.

He shows glimpses up forward then they move him into the backline. What's with this Richmond obsession of trying to turn every single player into backmen? :rofl

Even in the WCE game a few weeks ago when he played his best game in a long while, when he pushed forward he looked so much more at home and comfortable while kicking a couple of goals. Even I could develop players better than the RFC. :p

True can only go by the raw stats.
I don't know what Tyson's turnover rates were early on either but from vague memory I sensed that despite being a member of the Crows premiership side he wasn't a particularly good player early in his career.

no doubt Shane's kicking has been diabolical on occasions for sure this season but unlike say a JoN who has a terrible action, I don't think his technique is irreparable by any stretch.
He may never be an elite kick (again hands are excellent) but despite some howlers it's been pretty solid at times this year.
Hopefully the more experience he gets, the better his decisions will become.
Can't guarantee he'll make it & defo sympathise with his critics but I'd give him more time yet. 8)

Nothing to see here, people will be amazed at the improvements in Shane with the right coaching/development.

Plenty other spots to look at this list before we get to Shane.

I’m not a 100% certaint he will make it but I still believe he has a hell of a lot of upside. His vision at time is elite and the lads has got great run. Knights would have him in a Bombers jumper in a heartbeat. People do forget that different types of players have different development time (it’s not just about height), Edwards I don’t expect to be really good until 2011.

Although I do reserve the right to occasionally take a lustful look at Kurt Tippet and dream about ‘what if’.

He'd probably still be having a "lustful" look at the Gold Coast though.

Funny thing is if Crows had have gone with Edwards instead of Sellar, which was on the cards,we would have got Tippet at 26

And Tippet would have been lining up next to Cleve in the Magoos :hihi

If Tippet had shown Steamer’s level of application Neil Craig would have taken him around the back of football Park and executed him

Thank god we got Shane then. Can you imagine the hate all over RFC when Tippet announces he's GC bound.

Shane was very very good today against North, listed as 3rd best for Richmond on the AFL game review
Lovely evasiveness in traffic and great kicking skills all day

The time he got pinged for holding the ball in the last quarter was a diabolical decision by the umps. He got rid of the ball while the first person who managed to touch him tried to lay a tacklet.
