Shane Edwards

long way to go. FFS get him in the gym & eating something. He looks like one of the Auskick kids who's decided to stay out there & play with the big boys.

Why?

Spent a month there and performed well earlier in the year. Came back in and played his best game for the year. Then had two average/poor games. Why not just persist with him in the seniors? It is not like he is keeping another kid out ATM.

Has been making many errors over the last several weeks WT. The game you think he played at his best is in the past now, Coughlan, Thompson or even Connors can come in for Eddie and the team can be reshuffled.

Another alternative is to play him as crumbing forward swapping with Nahas, Nahas can be tryed in Eddies role, silly as it might sound.

Rawlings is trying to change the chemistry of the team and make them more versatile playing in different positions, no harm in experiment with the above formula.

Our next coach will demand versatility and not the stale plan Wallass instilled that rotted the players brains, they need to be taught to think.

personally hes one i would be looking to tradewhile he still has some value. hes contracted to the end of 2010 so will in all likely hood be there until the end of next yr.

in pelchens rating scale he easily fits into below standard category. in claws scale well i will reserve final judgement till next yr.that is if hes still there.

Disappointing. Body hasn't developed. Pushed off the ball too easily. Wallace prototype. Bye Bye.

If he's contracted for next year then I'm happy for him to get the extra development time needed.
Tich has the talent to make the difficult look easy and the inexperience to perfect ineptitude.
Would prefer to see him at least get game time in the seniors for the rest of this season and assess him on a solid ten match run before making a call on him.

I dont mind saying I rate the kid, think he makes a few mistakes, however think he offers a lot more then half the list.

Watched the game again and other then taking on Judd and been pinned, set up some great plays and showed very good composure, and even more amazingly took the game on and moved the ball in a forward direction. Like him learning a bit at half back , however see him as a more attacking midfield/forward.

Time will tell

I would be very surprised if he was traded.

As other posters have mentioned he has suffered from the Wallace's love of skinny boys.
It's all about size for Edwards. If he can get up to 83-85 kegs he will make it. If he stays at 75 he is toast.
He is not an athlete, he is a footballer and I am backing him to make it in a footballing sense.

His size will determine how long he stays in the top flight.

I don't think he needs to get to 85kg.. That's too much weight. What he needs to build is his core strength( Torso, groins and legs), not muscle thickness around your body,as this is where you get the strength in breaking tackles and staying on your feet.

If he gets to 85kg, his body will simply breakdown.Carrying excessive weight for his height at AFL level do not marry up.

Nonsense. Kerr is 2cm shorter than Edwards yet he's about 5-10kg heavier. Noticeably bigger through his core and upper body.

85 kilos would be very heavy for Edwards. Cant see it personally. An extra few kilos would help immensely. I agree with White Lightning's comments.

Do we have a strength & conditioning coach in the house? I wonder if any of those bulky Richmond water boys are on PRE. :headscratch

Yep, and look how his body is breaking down.. Plus don't forget Kerr wasn't a skinny runt when he started, he alway had some size on him.. Not a very good example GPB

Dude, it's ok to be wrong once in awhile. It's just common sense that you need to build your core first given the issues with the common OP nowadays.

Dude, it basic common knowledge that core strength is focused to ensure exactly what you are debating about, not doubting it at all. We have seen Tambling increase in size and this has taken a nearly five years and the change to his body size was noticebale from around his 3rd year. Squats, Bench, Deadlifts & Rows are encouraged before isolation .

I don't think I'm wrong at all.

I'd like to see Shane(180cm) end up somewhere near his namesake Tyson(179cm) over at Adelaide who's at about 81kg. 81/82 would seem about right. Be good if he ended up about the same quality also.

Tambling increased in size (core strength) to get over his OP that he has been carrying for over 2 years which his now gotten over - hence the season his having- anyway this off the topic... In a nutshell all I am simply saying re: Edwards is his core strength needs to be built first (for the reasons I stated initially) and that adding 10kg to his frame will only do more harm than good.
