Richmond Vs GWS - Game Day Thread

Very good win. GWS play a horrible style, we probably forced them into a bit and covered the ground pretty well. Having Parker and Kmac back in the 22 along with Pickett was massive for this.

Much better at the coalface this year. Cotch certainly wound back the clock but we sure saw the next 5 years there for the Tiges. Bolton very good at the coalface, and I really liked Dows games, did some really good things and very important for us. 9 contested out of 14 was excellent, winning 3 clearances. Hopefully the injury is minor as he could really step up for us.

Our defence was excellent. Tarrant again was terrific on the big men. Hogan has historically done very well against us, but he wore him like a glove all day. Miller and Gibcus both very good too. Suddenly our defensive talls don't look too bad, and Balta was excellent forward.

Hugo, Rioli and Short were also very good providing terrific rebound for us. Very happy with Rioli back, a lot of people jumped off last week but you have to give him more time and he was very good not only offensively but defensively on Hill who barely got near it.

Watching KMac and Pickett running like crazy back and forth all day today on the wings showed how valuable their contributions are. They shut down space, got a hand in spoiling marks, chased down runners. Incredible gut running in 28 Deg weather. Must play all games.

I also saw we now back off from the mark on occasion (seemed to be in defense) so then we could still move around and jump and down without having to suffer the stand rule. Learning.

Still feel we are susceptible to fast clearance and spread… but the pressure on any opposition inside mind was much better today…. Real in the face type stuff. Can we do it to quicker teams than gws… dunno

First game I have seen live for some time.
With so many regular stars out, it was an excellent performance.
Amongst the newer players, Hugo was brilliant, the ability to transition from defence to forward is a real plus.
Parker was great too.

Met a couple of the lads after the game.
Pickett has that aggressive quality, which intimidates the opposition.
Sometimes they second guess and divert.
He can school Matt P in it, he has that wiry quality.
No game is ever perfect, right, but I mentioned to Damien and Tim it was close to.

Nonsense, he took the bait and threw a pointless little shot at him in frustration. Dumb.
It was a little dumb but you are blowing up the whole incident into more than it was. The original 50 was there but was certainly not the result of any lack of discipline from Cotchin. He threw out a speculative arm just in case he could block the ball. If the ball hits the arm it’s a great spoil but unfortunately it hit Bruhn’s head.
The little love tap to the guts meant he kicked from the goal line rather than from 10 metres. Shouldn’t have done it but wasn’t costly and Cotch knew that. Bruhn was kicking the goal anyway.

Yep. Not like he was going to get put in the sin bin or anything. Who doesn't like a freebie?

The way the game is played every team is susceptible to the fast clearance and spread, it gives you a clean disposal from the middle and the ability to hit up a forward. The pressure in the middle is very important at the moment.

Yep, crazy the sky falling mantra the past week.

Dimma finished, Chimp finished, let's rebuild etc etc etc.

All when we were one game into the year. Was bizarro world ET.
