Richmond Vs GWS - Game Day Thread

How horrible is the GWS game plan? I'm surprised the players don't revolt.

You don't win 3 premierships by being just right spot right time. You deserve them.

Quieter yesterday but would have had 2 goals if not for an ARC howler. Good round 1.

He's played over 20 games 5 years on the bounce. Suggest you get used to watching him at AFL level for the duration of this one as well Willo.
Well I highly doubt he would have been a triple premiership player at Hawthorn or Geelong in recent times. That says something.
Right time, right place, like many other premiership players in years gone by.

It doesn’t mean he’s an exceptional player or even a decent one. Played a role in a couple. That’s all, nothing another player couldn’t have done. He was never a match winner. Ah the old ”he coulda won the NS if he kicked straight” It was never gonna happen
That’s like saying I could have played and won a premiership if I only some abilit.

Coulda, woulda but didn’t.
Yes, I acknowledged his pace and fitness. 20 games for 5 years is a good return, but nothing that spectacular, he gets more leeway by most.

It doesn’t mean they’re right and I’m wrong. Even Dimma and the MC have received criticism at times regarding their team selections. ;)

No doubt I will have to, I hope he can improve his game, but obviously he’s judged differently to a lot of other players.past and present. Those that were premiership players at that.

Those premierships were in the past. I’d rather skilled players with footy nous, judgement and ability for now and the future. But that’s just me.

George has a been a great role player. Deserves his flags. He's shown to be quite ineffective with the new rules though & others deserve opportunities.

Second quarter was the best by our team so far this year.
Champagne football.
12 inside 50s for 6 goals.
Was reading that the average rate is a 25 per cent conversion of inside 50s to goal.
A game of say 50 inside 50s, averaging about 13 goals.

It was a fantastic win by the boys, lots of heart and a much needed result but it will mean Jack Sheizen if we go down to the Aints next week.

A consolidation win next week will be the tonic to the boys to keep them up and running, and keep ahead of the ledger.

Good summation. Kudos for his premierships, of course he deserves them. Just feel it's time to give others with better decision-making a go. It's a very tough position, the small forward but 9 disposals, 5 turnovers, 0 tackles just doesn't cut it.

Some of us had that R22 GWS game in mind last year when they absolutely pumped us when we were undermanned.

But a thought occurred to me yesterday while I was enjoying this win. A lot of people were saying our season ended last year when Dusty went down. But we also lost Balta and Broad in the second half of the season. Both were pivotal yesterday.

Another thing that stood out yesterday was our speed. GWS aren’t known for their leg speed.
plus Soldo. A real loss last year.
An underrated ruck is Ivan

I've been wrestling with this philosophical question for a while as well, as it is common now when a player comes up for someone to run out 3 time premiership player as a shield for them.

I've been thinking a lot about what being a premiership player actually means. The answer I'm at is it means something and nothing all at once.

People bristle when I start talking about luck but it's about the only way to describe the difference between your average premiership player and everyone else.
Good post.
Plenty of elite stars of the game miss out on premierships, while a host of “lesser lights” have the good fortune to be in a premiership.
As I said, right time, right place applies to plenty.

I didn't see the whole game. I'm very interested to know how Parker was used.

Was he simply replacing one of our injured stars, playing the same role that guy would have?

Or was he being used in a way that took advantage of his own set of unique strengths and physical traits?

What I'm getting at is this - is there a specific and unique 'Parker role' that could evolve during the year, that could see him carve out a spot in our best 22, or do you think he will mainly be used to fill a variety of gaps that open up due to injury?

Ok just asking this question.

Hate the ch 7 Sunday 3-20pm timelot mainly because the nuffies cut straight to the news straight after siren.

Err, Theme song, Bueller, Anyone, Bueller?

Would love to see Gibcus and Tazz get the gatorade shower.
So have looked on you tube and found and subscibed to Richmond Media and Richmond Brotherhood.
Neither show the Theme song from Sunday.

Is there any easy way to get in contact with them to ask for this to be posted?
(especially when 2 or 3 newbies get the first win and shower)
Don't think it is asking much.
But needs to be a you tube post so I can watch on lounge room TV (as no desktop access there if you catch my drift).

I understand why they do it because if they show the theme song half the audience who lost will crack the Jimmy Smits and flick to 9.
Still sucks though.

Much obliged if possible.

Do you mean team song after the game coz it's on the RFC website?

Yeah but I can't view website on TV.
Needs to be a youtube set up as I have an old TV with a Telstra TV box.
Thanks guys.

George was good enough to be a best 22 player for the 4 years we dominated the competition. that is not luck.

you can debate his place in the current team, but his performances in our premiership years should not be diminished, and his place in our history discounted as luck.
