If you go by possession stats or AA jumpers n meedjia celebrity status then half our players would never have gotten games in the Premiership eras of Brisvegas, Moggies or Hawforn not just Georgie.Well I highly doubt he would have been a triple premiership player at Hawthorn or Geelong in recent times. That says something.
Right time, right place, like many other premiership players in years gone by.
It doesn’t mean he’s an exceptional player or even a decent one. Played a role in a couple. That’s all, nothing another player couldn’t have done. He was never a match winner. Ah the old ”he coulda won the NS if he kicked straight”It was never gonna happen
That’s like saying I could have played and won a premiership if I only some abilit.
Coulda, woulda but didn’t.
Yes, I acknowledged his pace and fitness. 20 games for 5 years is a good return, but nothing that spectacular, he gets more leeway by most.
It doesn’t mean they’re right and I’m wrong. Even Dimma and the MC have received criticism at times regarding their team selections.
No doubt I will have to, I hope he can improve his game, but obviously he’s judged differently to a lot of other players.past and present. Those that were premiership players at that.
Those premierships were in the past. I’d rather skilled players with footy nous, judgement and ability for now and the future. But that’s just me.
Dimma simply tweaked our game plans n structures to best suit the players he had to hand. Won three premierships with a bunch of players lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. All the while other clubs n coaches desperately started poaching our staff, imitating our game style n the honcho's at HQ started changing the rules to shut us down.
Georgie's earned his keep n his three dingly danglies over the years n he's still one of the most frustratingly amusing players to watch play the game.
First thought was Taylor Durea. But don't think he played in all 3.
