He hasnt been good in the VFL. He should show his talent and improvement there first.

Green had less possessions (9) at VFL level than Mansell did at AFL. Suggest he starts getting a kick there first.
FWIW Mansells last two VFL games he had 25 and 19.

He was also the highest rated player in AFL player ratings last week against the Crows. Was quieter yesterday but he was ok, compared to Cumbos rubbish yesterday.
Me too but possesnion counts of 8, 13,7, 6, 10, 11 + 1 goal + 4 tackles over the past six weeks isn't getting it done.
Effort is there but we need output in the front half. You can talk pressure acts, intensity but we need class and damage.

Across a full season that would equal an average of 10 disposals, while kicking nearly 25 goals. I would take that from a defensive minded small forward any year. (especially considering the train wreck that has been our forward line this year.)
So he's kicked goals in 8 out of 12 games this year, with 3 of those blanks in the period where our season fell apart following the injury carnage after the Swans game (ie. where we basically lost our forward line), yet somehow you see it strange that he could kick just over a goal a game for the season?

So he kicked 10 out of 12 games so far this year but you think he can kick more than 10 over the next 8 games?
I don't think Brodders was saying this season. I think he can get back to a goal a game for this season personally. He's kicked goals in each of his last 6 games, if he can continue that and get a couple of games of multiple goals, then there is no reason to think he can't, but again going back to what Brodders was saying, I think he was referring to Mansell being a 25 goal a season player and thats entirely achievable and with his better than average defence (all the stats point to this) then he's more than useful for us.
Now its about finding the additional class to play with him, not instead of him IMO.

There’s no dishonour if a player is playing to his limits compared to a better player not doing so. In fact I’d go as far to say give me the player who busts his boiler for the team rather than the bludger.
I’d take Mansell over a Sonsie any day of the week.

And that's the part I take umbrage with, 25 goals a season. Daniel Rioli did it once as a small forward, Shai Bolton will do it for a third time this year it's not easy.
Its all about the balance in the forward line. Do we think the Giants are pissed that Toby Bedford goes at about 0.5 goals per game, or are they happy that he's part of a group where they get the best out of the forward line with Daniels and Greene.
Mansell is a similar type with similar defensive output to Bedford but he's better at hitting the scoreboard. Now its all about finding those other players to play with him that are more dangerous around goal.
Its essentially assuming he plays every game of the season, which may not happen but he's the equivalent of that when he's playing. 25 goals a season is only marginally over a goal a game now we are playing 24 games a year in the H&A season.
Exactly, but we are more closer to 1990-2010 atm. Castagna in his time was a much better small forward than Mansell will ever be, but he did have the quality around him.
