Just watching the TAC GF.Greene reminds me of Nathan Foley but with better footskills.Wouldn,t dissapoint me if we went for him if he was still available.

He's also got a bit of mongrel about him which I like (provided it's not misdirected).

Lyon also stated that will not blessed with pure stars after pick 6, that clubs could walk away with a stack of “middle-tier footballers” (his term) that play a lot of football. I am in the Lone Wolf Camp.

Could be 2005 revisited Scoop, exactly the same things were said about that draft with everyone bar Marc Murphy being potential middle tier footballers. In the end it turned out to be a bumper crop and one of the best of the decade. My feeling is that if the recruiters have done their homework there will be some hidden gems, maybe not so much with regards to the tall timber but even that is difficult to predict without the benefit of hindsight.

That is why he got the Vic Metro MVP at the champs, we would be very lucky to get him.

Yeah agree. We as a club need that middle tier so bad, if we get top end talent with our first two picks that’s a bonus. We need to at the very least to find footballers who will play at the top level for 6-10 years. And I have no doubt that this draft is capable of delivering that. And we must take that challenge in this draft. Our biggest weakness is the midfield and that can be fixed quickly. This is the year to start.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Have heard previously that Dom Tyson is a projected top 5 pick.

Greene had a much better game than him today - I wonder if this will propel him up the draft rankings much like Sidebottom last year.

I see why there are comparisons with Foley, plays a similar game and killed it today.

Is that all we can get with this draft SCOOP, middle tier

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Today will unfortunately put him out of our reach. Agree with Scoop, we desperately need that middle tier of midfielders so we aren't relying on Jackson, Tuck, Grigg, Edwards. It is possible to draft these types in this draft. Do we have the confidence/courage to do it.

We may still end up with a star or 2.

Can't be bothered going through the thread but i remember u convincing me to have a look at him. 34 touches today. Very good effort.

How many picks do people think we will take? Also, if Greene goes up the draft order it means someone slips otherwise we take him. Its win/win really.

This draft if we can snag a very good player at pick 14 and 2 mid level players plus Maric we will have done well.

Next year we should get a gun and a very good player with our 1st pick and compo. May even snag another good player at our 2nd rounder. That should do us nicely.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

In some ways I'm disappointed he's improved his chances of going top ten but at least it means another player will drop down the order, I would be just as pleased if we landed Grigg as some are suggesting, if one or two smokies get picked up by GWS we will be very well placed to pick up a very good footballer.

No way. At 14 we may get a a star but at the very least we can walk away from the draft having vastly improved that middle tier of our list.

Spot on. If he goes up someone drops. Pretty logical really. Boy did he play a great game today. Was in everything.

He probably hasn't moved draft position. The recruiters would have seen him win the Vic Metro MVP so would have him well pegged. It is just the general public that will change their opinion. Didn't do anything in that game he hasn't already done before.

Disagree, performing in these games has always carried extra weight, Dale Thomas being a perfect example of a guy who shot up the rankings. Some recruiters love big game players and Greene's performance could have given him the edge in any potential 2 horse race.

Yeah he does tend to just get amongst it so I think he's just confirming his 1st round status, from my point of view.

Agree here, some that had doubts walk away knowing the kid is a genuine footballer with plenty of smarts about him.

Agree. Today pushes him further up the pecking order. TAC finals form push players higher and higher. Dale Thomas & Dyson Heppell ring any bells?

I still think that we should attack this draft hard.

Quick question for u SCOOP seems u are pretty knowledgeable on the draft. Quite often we hear a draft is weak etc then in hindsight it wasn't. Is that because it takes a while through the year for some players to emerge. eg. Fletcher Roberts today.

And.... do you think where some players go influences the perceptions of a draft?

Can add Sidebottom to the list with his ten goals in the 2008 TAC Grand Final.
