Yeah Jimmy, scary when you look at that 2009 draft for Geelong.

17 Daniel Menzel
28 Mitchell Duncan
40 Allan Christenson
42 Nathan Vardy

Four really good senior players in that draft alone not to mention Laidler who they upgraded and then flicked or Pods as a rookie 50 pick.
Ouch if only.... :-\

These blokes would look average in a bottom side. All juniors look good in good sides.

cotchin/martin are not super quick....

Disagree.

Martin ran a 2.8/2.9 at draft camp.

Cotchin I think post achillies is actually quite quick. Buddy couldn't catch him in that praccy game in the country while he was running with the ball.

This kid looks dead slow....

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Anyone watch Josh Waldhuter. Hope no teams recruit the way we used to. His highlight package would see him go very very high. Hoping he lasts till our second. Tackling machine. He's crazy.

They have vision up on AFL.com of each player now.

I hadn't seen any vision of McKenzie but he had been talked up quite a bit as an option for us @14. Have only seen very limited vision but he looks like he has shocking pace...can anyone confirm this?? Great kick by the looks of things but I don't think a player can afford to be that slow in todays modern game. I would steer clear of anyone who can't run away from an opponent and give themselves time to dispose of the footy.

Can't seem to find them. Got a link?

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

My friend who mentors Greene, is adamant that he wont get past richmonds pick. The tiges have already spoken to him, but Greene believes he will end up at GWS.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

I still hopeful of our chances, GWS already have a lot of his type in Shiel, Scully, Ward, Bugg and Sewell.

In any case I'm sure we'll land a quality player.

See ball get ball, if someone else has ball get them then get ball.

I love the look of Greene and it might seem overpaying for him but wouldn't mind Waldhuter if the big names are gone. Would become a fan fave very quickly. Looks like he wants to hurt the opposition. ;D

Also, could anyone see us giving up our compo for pick 11, 13 or 15?

Yeah, I reckon he's a chance to head north aswell, but the draft does tend to throw up a few left of field names early so you never know.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Just having had a look at some of the vids on the AFL website, Grigg reminds me a lot of Paul Broderick. I don't think we could go wrong if he was there at 14. Greene is very small. Looks a player but we need big bodies. McKenzie looks a bit gangly at this stage but if he fills out and finds a yard that left foot will do a lot of damage. Good overhead too. I see him on a back flank so not sure that's a priority either. One bloke I really liked the look of was Brett O'Hanlon. I would be fine with him as a second-rounder. Just looks an AFL player.

He attacks the footy in tight. Is a a hunter in tight and tackles really well. At the same time he can ran & carry the footy. He is always looking to handball and has the same thing as Cotchin, holds onto the ball till the last second to release the player into space. He is a very good kick but he looks to handball first. Long and low. Not elite but very good. He has played some good footy in the SANFL. 2nd to 3rd rounder is about right.

Really like the look of this kid. Attacks the ball and player (when he doesn't have it) and doesn't seem to care what is in his way. Like you said Scoop, others become involved when he gets the ball. The thought of him firing the ball out to Cotchin and Martin sits very comfortably with me.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Waldhuter definately wont last till our second pick so we need to somehow find another first rounder if we are to have any chance otherwise...and i know it would be a reach at 14 (wont happen but u never know with richmond) but at least we know we are getting a very good size kamikaze like player who would make an immediate impact on the groups defensive mindset.

Most importantly, hes an upgrade on Jackson and could easily be groomed to be our number one tagger, if not straight away, in a year or two.

I would like to know what his attacking footy is like. Has anyone seen him in the Sanfl? How did he fare against men?

Needs to improve his outside game. He's a wonderful kick if he can actually learn to get open. Martin was a bit similar last year that he always went looking for a contest. So it can be improved. If he tests well i reckon he's a chance at 14.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Just on Will Hoskin-Elliot he cam second in the Western Jets B&F and only played 12 games.

He is something we don't have, raw pace. Think a better Issac Smith.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Won't last till 14 will he? I'm still hopeful on Grigg, he sounds a perfect fit. Ready to go and a natural footballer. Although suspect Adelaide will snare him just before we get a chance.

Hoskin-Elliot could go as high as 4 or 5.

Grigg would be a dream come true but agree Adelaide will take him. Hopefully Greene slips especially if we trade Foley out. Would be a ready to go replacement extracting the ball out. We need GWS to pay high for someone. Otherwise i'd seriously consider Waldhuter at pick 14. A few phantom drafts have him top 20 with a range of 15-40. If he's who we want i'd imagine we won't be afraid to take him even if a little early.

Didn't scare us last year at 6. i think frank knows who he likes and pulls the trigger.
