Pics 15 & 26 ND 2011 - Who should we pick?

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Can you give us a rough top 15 so we know what we might get goose?

I think depending on what type of player we want these are the 3 that should be available and looked at...

1. Toby Greene (inside mid)
2. Brad McKenzie (outside mid) can play inside a bit though.
3. Sam Docherty (back flanker)

McKenzie and Docherty both have elite skills, Docherty also very quick compared to McKenzie. Greene's elite ability is his ball-winnin capability.

Comes down to what the club wants/needs.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

I reckon there's going to be a few surprises. The top 5 looks pretty set (Coniglio, Patton, Wingard, Longer, Tyson) but after that I don't think it's as cut and dried as other years especialy with the possibility GWS might decide to load up on quality talls while they can.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Greene seems to be a logical choice if Jackson is traded, I'm predicting he'll be ready to play in 2012 and would be definite upgrade.

Even the top 5 isn't settled, Buntine to GC is a possibility (if the pick isn't traded).

Certainly agree with that. I wrote in the BHP thread that id be looking at off-loading Jacko for one of GWS 10 previously nominated players they can sign and trade. Luke Brown is touted top 20-25 pick if he goes to the draft. Speedy half back/wingman.

Reckon Brown will be a lock to go to GWS and play right away. He would walk into our side.

1. Patton
2. Congilio
3. Tyson
4. Longer
5.Wingard
6.Buntine
7. Hoskin Elliot
8. Kavanagh
9. Sumner
10Grigg
11.Crozier
12 Ellis
13 Talia
14 Greene
15 Devon Smith

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Cheers. It wouldn't take too much deviation from that to see one of Kavanagh, Hoskin-Elliott or Grigg fall to our pick.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

True - Ellis is the one I probably have higher than most - elite kick, courageous and composed. Not super quick, but a true footballer. Played mostly defence (All Aus Back Pocket) but can go through the middle and kick a goal.

I am a huge Ellis fan as well. I thought he might be floating around at 30 ish. You reckon he will go top 12?

The two things I really like about him is that he could play right away in 2012 and he is a backline general. We don't have enough of those.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Crozier is the interesting one for mine, played some breath-taking footy at the carnival but there must be some question marks over consistency and the fact he's a real lightweight (62 kg). He did finish the TAC season strongly which was a positive but I'm pretty wary of the x-factor types, particularly when it comes to first round selections.

If I trusted our Sports Science to be able to get him to be big enough, it wouldn't bother me cause he has top 5 potential.

But I don't so we move on unfortunately. We just do not have the resources in that field to get our players big enough.

Run by a inept guy.

Haven't seen more than a highlight pick but his blond hair, height, weight, good kick, not quick makes me shudder and think Farmer.

Get him on the Fatty Farmer diet. Burgers and donuts. GWS are the side that can afford to take the punt i reckon.

I thought heaps of our players improved physically this year.

I said elite kick and courageous - not too things that spring to mind with the other one.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Very quick and great leap aren't exactly two of Farmer's stregths either.

You would be confident that we could get a 62kg kid to be big enough in time?

We have failed with a lot of players around the same weight in Edwards etc.

I don't think it is an overreaction to say we are and have been the smallest physical team in the league for some time and there is a common denominator in all that.

Re: Pic 14 ND 2011 - Who should we pic?

Reckon that's changing though mate. There's not many left in our team that aren't a good size and a couple of them are really looking like footballers now.
