Pics 15 & 26 ND 2011 - Who should we pick?

Definitely is a raffle.

The only knock on Ellis is his pace and he openly admits that as well in his profile. But how slow is slow? Will it be an issue at AFL level.

Apart from that it seems he does everything else exceptionally well. His beep test of 15+ sees he will have no issue in having stints in the midfield. This is where he has it clearly over Docherty who when tested at the Gippsland Falcon recorded a score of just over 13.

Ellis has a head only a mother could love but with his attack on the footy and the man could very quickly be loved by most if not all Tigers supporters.

Leysy knows you know Smokin but you need more than fitness to be a midfielder.

That is the million dollar question with him, if he can play predominantly inside his pace isnt much of a concern, which makes him a good prospect.

If he's going to play in the backline full-time then ILO it does raise issues.

We may well think he can move inside.

Dustin...what a name...what a hack.

Two first names, a definate tosser.

Call them whatever you like, as long as they can play the rest is insignificant.

Your concerns are valid but long term I think the club will see him as that inside midfielder where like you said his pace wont expose him as much.

Like I have said previously if the club can turn him into someone like a Jordan Lewis then I would have no hesitation in calling him name out at 15.

Jack Zeibell had a 20 meter sprint time upwards of 3.1 from memory and to compound the issue, a beep test of 13. That's the daily double of poor speed and fitness and yet he is turning out to be a pretty handy footballer. Ellis is significantly better than that athletically.

Unlucky outcome with none of our preferred mids sliding to us. Ellis was the next best available after Kavanagh was ruled out after the word got out that he wanted the bombers.
Would have been nice if Murdoch slid to 55 to round out a good days work.

2011 DRAFT REVIEW WITH RICHARD TAYLOR - RICHMOND RECRUITING OFFICER

They are all strong marks as well as good kicks. More than compensates for any perceived lack of height. Ellis and Elton seem to have long arms. Phanto?

Can anybody give me a run down on what the boys on fox said about our picks, bloody recording ended just as they moved onto our selections!!

Just an observation from a Tasmanian living in the NT, pretty surprised at only two players drafted from Tassie and even more surprised that no players from the NT were drafted.

Not sure if any were already pre-listed by Great Waste of Space, and i'm sure a few will get rookied, but not a good result.

Not that i'm saying we should have picked any up, just sayin.

NT and Tas together they are about 4% of the population so it's not that surprising.

In the last five to ten years or so the number of draftees of these states, especially from Tassie is declining. I'm not that into stat hunting, but would be intruiged to see the fall in numbers.

Your stat is true but put it to the total population of people who follow footy and the number is reduced. I would guess the number would be substantially more most years.

Tassie has much the same population as a TAC Club zone, NT less, so you'd expect them to get about as many as a TAC Cup club.

Sam Darley was prelisted by GWS. So that means 3 were taken from Tassie. Tim Mohr is a 23 year old from Tassie who went to GWS via the VFL so you could say 4.

NT was zoned to Gold Coast and now to GWS. Shaun Edwards and Curtley Hampton went to GWS who would have been in this draft.

Yesterday he thought it would be out of Crozier, Docherty and Kersten. And now he has thrown Ellis into the mix.

I think he has NFI.

That's funny.  Interestingly he had Todd Elton as pick 8 earlier in the season.  I hope he's on the money in relation to ability there too.
