Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Why are we locked into Vlastuin? McRae, Menzel,Mayes, Lonergan and even Simpson would be bets I reckon. THey wont all be gione by #9
If they were all on the board I'd take Menzel, and if he was gone I'd love to be confident enough to pull the trigger on Simpson. Then Mayes.

You seem a little ummm....nervous? Aren't we all.

I'm nervous as bro. I feel a Richmond-reach coming on. All this talk of Garner and Vasputin when there is going to be probably the best quality at #9 in many a draft has me sweating bullets.

I can feel it too. Grundy, Macrae and a few others could be on the board and we will take the guy who can tackle with no tank.
Very underwhelmed if we take Vlastuin but can see it happening from a mile out.

Evo McRae, Menzel and Mayes are all likely to go by before our pic 9, if one slipped sure snap him up...but in all likelihood all 3 will go pic 6, 7 and 8....I would take Vlastuin over Lonergan.....Simpson looks the goods no doubt but after reading this im a little undecided on him; Simpson, who moved from South Australia back to Perth at the end of last season to be closer to his family.

How many first round picks has Francis stuffed up since being our FT recruiter?

Riewoldt?
Cotchin?
Vickery?
Martin?
Conca?
Ellis?

I think he's got a few runs on the board and no doubt seen a lot more of these guys than anyone here.
Deserves the benefit of the doubt, at least until shown to be incorrect whether that be Vlastuin or anyone else.

Not sure why there is so much angst in us taking Vlastuin.

I see him completing out x factors in Cotchin, Deledio & Martin just nicely.

Now I haven't seen this guy play live, but what about Aidan Corr?
Great height, should bulk up nicely, real quick, very good kick.
I just don't remember his name at all in the last 10 pages of this thread.

most likely gone before our pick - whitfield, o'rourke, toumpas, plowman, wines, menzel, stringer, mayes
our pick will most likely be one of - vlastuin, grundy, garner, macrae, jaksch.

I think it is spot on to still have a ? mark after Conca still has a long way to go for a pick 6. Gets pinged for holding the ball more than any other player. Just hatches it with no effort to get it out. The rest are all looking ok. Ellis a little soft on occasions but hoping to see that improve next year.

We'll still land a gun at pic 9 H but i think macrea will go to the lions and Stringer will be in the mix with the others u mentioned for our pic 9 "vlastuin, grundy, garner, jaksch"

Conca has been quite good and will be that competitive clearance beast but i agree that he needs to get rid of the ball quicker when he gets tackloed.....Ellis ill disagree on he is damn hard at the contest and can only see him excelling as the years go on think we have a real winner here....

I'd bet several of those will have a more distinguished career than Vlastuin.

That's a pretty minor criticism all things considered, at least he's at the bottom of the pack. He's going along just fine for a 2nd year player IMO. Quite a creative player and good in traffic as well as at clearances. Will only improve further is my sense.

Less than Stephen Wells in the same time frame. ;)

Just about the only place I've seen anyone panicking over Vlastuin is on this board on this thread in the last two pages. I think you all need a Bex. I'm not saying you don't have the right to be nervous, hell yeah we've earned that, but this kid ain't JON for god sake. Our first round picks have been solid or better for a while now. And we might not take him anyway!
I don't know if Vlastuin takes Xfactor hangers or kicks impossible goals. But from everything Ive read, and the little bit Ive seen, he sounds like a warrior. And we know which team are Premiers right now don't we. The one with more warriors.

Never even got close to saying that, on record here as saying I will embrace Grundy with open arms if he gets drafted by us, he looks a good prospect. I wouldn't use pick 9 on him this year, that's all. I think we need more depth in our mids, not another expensive ruck.

I agree that we need mids aswell but there will be plenty left at our other 3 picks, the talls will be slim pickings by then.

I'm off the big V bandwagon and I have jumped on the Stringer Train
We need a Darling Type and this is the kid.
His leg can't be too bad he kicked a lazy 10 in his 1st game back from the injury

Whatever/whoever they pick up tommorow I hope they pick a Big/pack busting type, I'm over these half flankers
