Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

FWIW Grundy at SANFL level

Rd 8
8 disposals 1 mark 7 hitouts 0.0
Rd 16
9 disposals 4 marks 7 hitouts 0.0
Rd 17
6 disposals 0 marks 5 hitouts 0.0
Rd 18
3 disposals 1 marks 7 hitouts 0.0
Rd19
6 disposals 3 marks 15 hitouts 0.0
Rd 21
6 disposals 1 mark 31 hitouts 0.0
Rd 22
8 disposals 0 marks 22 Hitouts 0.0
Rd 24
5 disposals 1 mark 9 Hitouts 0.0

51 possessions in 8 games at a bit over 6 per game. Only 3 games managed to get double figure hitouts whilst not impacting on the scoreboard in any game with a grand total off 11 marks in 8 games. If we recruited him and he did that for Coburg I'd hate to see the reaction on here. IMO he'll turn out to be a pretty good player but he's certainly not the ready made prospect that people on here seem to think he is. Long way to go with Grundy.

Reserves level

Rd 5
4 disposals 0 marks 29 hitouts 0.0
Rd 7
13 disposals 4 marks 25 hitouts 0.2
Finals Week 1
13 disposals 4 marks 28 hitouts 1.0
Finals Week 2
7 disposals 1 mark 24 hitouts 0.0
Prelim Final
10 dispoals 1 mark 22 hitouts 0.0

47 disposals in 5 games at 9.4 per game. Averaging 25.6 hitouts and only 1 goal total at 3rds level. Remember what Big Browney did at 3rds level and he didn't get a game at AFL yet we think Grundy is ready-made.

Bring back Trent knoble if you want Mr Dounut!
If he can't touch it in SA how & why is so sort after??
Rather use pick 9 on a Mid

Grundy is about as ready-made as Derickx, Wood and Stephenson. He'd essentially be called upon if Maric or Vickery went down. I'd much rather stitch up a 10 year ruckman than recruit a half glass empty type.

Been saying that for the last week, just pitch a ready made ruckman from another club when you need one.
The last ruckman we groomed into a quality player was Mark Lee 300 years ago.
FJ won't pick Grundy

What, do you think ruckmen are like the greek pension, let everyone else do the work and line up in the queue? Benny Gale?

Who wants a ready made ruckman? I want GrundyPants starting to hit his straps in 3-4 years when Ivan retires and TV is peaking = formidible tandem act of monsters ala west coast ATM. I reckon based on his numbers against men as an 18 year old (especially the hit outs), he could play a valuable cameo in the first of our flag dynasty in 2-3 years. Sure Vlas could run around next year, but he'd have to get in the rebounding HBF'er queue.

Yeah pretty funny isn't it? We have about 2.5 rucks on the list and 7/8 HBF'ers but Linus seems to think we couldn't do with another quality young tall on the list.

Vlastuin looks very similar to Ellis for me, almost too much. Would rather Garner because we don't have anyone like him.

Never even got close to saying that, on record here as saying I will embrace Grundy with open arms if he gets drafted by us, he looks a good prospect. I wouldn't use pick 9 on him this year, that's all. I think we need more depth in our mids, not another expensive ruck.

According to whispers on 3AW that GWS told Whitfield, Plowman & O'Rourke with picks 1, 2 & 3 respectively.

This most likely means Toumpas to Melbourne and Wines a possible slider.

I really hope we are comnsiderimg Jaksch. I saw a bit of him at Oakleigh this year and he can seriously play. Reminds me a lot of Hurley when he played at eastern. I know we would love another mid but this dude looks too good to pass up I reckon. He is this years Darling.Having said that I wont be too upset if we get Menzel Mayes or McRae

Mayes > Macrae IMO. Love his balance, elite kick, especially at goal, smart running to the right places. I just love Mayes every time I see him. Looks like an elite AFL player.

agree

Brett Anderson from Inside Footy thinks Jaksch could be a possibility at pick 9.

Emma Quayle's latest is Vlastiuin with Hrovat and Lonergan as contingency plans. Grundy will probably not be a Tiger, Macrae will probably land in Carlton's lap (bastards) and Brisbane will take Mayes if Port takes Grundy.

Jaksch is still a possibility to be picked up by Brisbane.

Praying we don't take Grundy

Vlastuin doesn't excite me much either

Grundy will probably slide to pick 14 if Port don't take him, unfortunately Vlastuin looks like being our man unless there's some freak occurance and Brisbane take him.

Why are we locked into Vlastuin? McRae, Menzel,Mayes, Lonergan and even Simpson would be bets I reckon. THey wont all be gione by #9

Grundy - 202 cm 100kg basket baller at #9???... No thanks. Footage looks OK but lets just keep stacking the quailty in the middle. No diffrent to Brisbane 2001-2004 (Lappin, Aka, Black, Voss, Heart, McRae, Ashcroft)... this took them to 4 grand finals, winning 3 of them!

Toumpas must be shattered.

It's baffling in the extreme, it seems we're the only ones keen on Vlastuin in the top 15.

I'd rather play for Melbourne than the souless AFL farce that is GWS.; At least the Dees are a real club. It sux that the 3 best players are going to the GWS jokers.
