Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Yes he is Z, says his leg is fine and that he'll be ready 2 go by RD 1

Looks Darling in the early vision then he looks like a "Goddard" type in the end part.
I wish we had 2 1st rounders.
I think the club will go safe and take vaulstin

This drafts I'm really confident that the top 15-25 kids will good players.
The problem is taking the best of the group.
Garner, stringer, plowman and Kennedy take a pick

He's mobility is what stands out as does his overhead marking, has good skills and pace but that vision all before his injury....
Tell me about it wouldve loved another pic between 15 and 25....

So is that defiantly before his leg injury?
I hope the club has video of him after also.
In today's paper, it mention a recruiter saying that he has a reply bad running style now.
Maybe that is another *smile* story to try to put off others.
I like that vision because his marks are all pack marks

DRAFT NEWS

Jake Stringer looms as the biggest slider of the first round and the cats are set to pounce with pick 16. The cats initially tried to secure Stringer as a GWS mini pick but were unsuccessful.

However the bulldogs are also hugely interested in Stringer, who invited Stringer down to the club for a week in the 2012 preseason in January. The dogs are happy to use pick six on either Stringer or Menzel.

I don't think i'd risk a pick 15 - 25 on him. He honestly looks like he is crippled in some way.

The Stringer vision is all post-injury.

Bully (or whoever posted the hand/arm measurements), does Macrae have small hands?

If that's the case, stringer would be a very good get!!
So many to choose, but only one will end up at punt road.
Gws shouldn't have 3 top picks, they should've got 1-19-20

Of course he's going to say that. What else cold he say ?

He could say that he has hot spots and constant pain from the leg, and that he runs around Like a 3 legged donkey!
So he could slip to us at pick 31

Repeat this is post injury and still not fully fit. Fits both HFF and on ball (191cm). The worst rick is not grasping an opportunity.

Wrong. We need someone who can contribute from day 1. Stringer is a risk. We aren't pies or hawks. We can't riskthis pick. Plenty of kids at this pick will make an impact to us..... mccrea, garner, vlastuin, grundy etc. Need a hit not a maybe hit. Pass on stringer at 9

Nathan Wright - Without beating around the bush too much, Nathan Wright is my type of footballer and I would welcome him with open arms if he landed at Richmond. He's your classical tough and uncompromising player who hates to lose a contest and he's got an attacking flare which at times is reminiscent of a raging bull. He's got all the attributes that should see him succeed at the highest level - strong marking, a big tank, impressive agility and a sound work ethic. That he also comes from a Tiger supporting family makes Wright an even more desirable commodity, I'm certainly a sucker for a slice of sentimentality, and very few things give me greater pleasure than seeing a diehard Tiger pull on the jumper for the first time.

Having listed many of Wright's positive traits there must be a hitch, right? Well there is of sorts but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a deal breaker. I think if there's one thing that I learnt last season from our original kamikaze kid, it's that perceived imperfections can recede into the background if one chooses to play to their strengths. I'm talking of course about Steven Morris and his alleged kicking deficiencies. Now one could never label Morris as the Rolls Royce of punting, at times he can look a little ungainly, but the bottom line is he makes the correct decisions more often than not. This is pretty much where Wright stands, his action isn't poetry in motion, but nor is he a turnover merchant. If the odds are stacked against him with any available kicking options, he'll handball, and if that isn't on, he'll kick to a genuine 50/50 contest. In short, he plays well within his limitations and plays the percentages to the best of his ability. He's what I consider to be a very coachable lad and someone who could slot into the side with relative ease.

So if we're going to dream a little and begin formulating our Christmas wishlist, Wright will be selected by Richmond at either pick 32 or 34. I'll also make the prediction that he'll be playing seniors next year and will become a bit of a fan favourite. If he's available, I'd say FJ will be all over him, the only dilemma would be if Nick Graham was also onboard, that would be a tough choice indeed.

Good stuff again Bully. Appreciating the write ups. Great read. Would very much love Wright to come to us at 32. I think he and Vlastuin will play a fair bit of senior footy next year. (on merit) If we can get Atkins at 34 as well we'd be pretty well set up for the future. Just need a dangerous small/medium forward type who can kill opposition teams in 5-10 minutes of brilliance.

How come we have 6 picks in the ND?

Out
Connors, McDonald, Webberley, Browne, Post, Moore, Graham
Chaplin, Knights, Edwards
In

7 out and 3 in, which gives 4 picks, have I missed anyone on the main list?
Maybe we put Newman on the veterans list, so that could be 5 picks

But scratching my head at 6 picks, has list numbers changed :headscratch

You're correct.

We only have 4 picks; 9, 32, 34 and 43.

Is there an article or something that says we have 6?
