Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

There's a big chance Menzel will slip in the draft due to his knees.. With his injury history he's a risk as a top ten pick.. He's done both his knees already and i would say as a result this led to his groin injury.. His brother has done his knee twice.. very risky

Emma Quayle who knows her stuff has stated that GWS are considering him at 3. He will go in the top 10. I don't disagree with you but the talent is too high according to the experts.

You might be right but I really doubt it. He's been in to see a number of clubs and I don't think many are scared of with his knee.
He's as talented as anyone in the draft but even allowing for some cautious selections the worst he should fall to is 7.

I think GWS at 3, the Bulldogs at 5 or Port at 7 are his most likely suitors. Melbourne seem to be committed to Wines at 4.
The Dogs still have Stringer on their radar but I doubt they would take both Stringer and Menzel.

i suppose you can take a risk with your 3rd pick, bloody draft cheats, but i wouldnt get him as the tigers 1st pick.. big risk although big rewards if he comes good..

Gee Plowman shows a bit - much love for him on here ?

I like Plowman as a Mundy style big bodied mid - would be in the fix if available at 9

Plowman is a very nice type. Clean & skilled.

If we believe he can play midfield we should draft him ahead of some others we are touted for ILO.

Lachlan Plowman - Up until this week, there appeared to be very little hope that Plowman would be available at pick 9, the late mail now has Plowman as a realistic chance to slide out to pick 9 or beyond. With the Doggies closely linked with Stringer and O'Rourke, Menzel with GWS, Macrae with Brisbane, Wines with Melbourne and Grundy with Port, it would appear that Richmond could be first in line for the draft's best key position player.

If there were any tears to be shed at the unavailablity of the players mentioned above, having a modern day defender like Plowman suddenly enter the frame should bring a smile to all and sundry. In some ways, Plowman being sidelined with an elbow injury may well be a blessing in disguise, at the very least, his absence has kept him out of the spotlight long enough for him to be considered a potential top ten, as opposed to a certain one.

Despite missing chunks of football, Plowman has been a model of consistency when he has made it on the park. His form for Calder has seen him feature in the best players on 6 occasions, the only blemish being a game that saw him injured from the outset. Despite missing the u/18 carnival, Plowman impressed when playing for Australia and even going back as far as 2011, he managed to chalk up consecutive BOG's playing as an underager in the TAC Cup.

So stylistically what type of player is he? In short he's your prototype running backman who zones off beautifully and can win a contest both in the air and at ground level. Some might say he's a midfielder at heart, and that may prove to be correct. Comparisons with David Mundy aren't far off in that regard, but I would go so far as to say that he's a more polished version of Mundy. His kicking efficiency at TAC level was up around 84% and that's quite remarkable considering his natural instinct is take on the opposition at all costs.

As far as Richmond is concerned, Plowman could feasibly slot into the back half or may even make the transition to inside midfielder. That is a huge selling point behind picking him up at 9 and certainly counters any argument that we have to get a mid at all costs. So if he does end up a Tigerland, I would be content in the knowledge that we may be killing two birds with one stone and grabbing a man for all seasons. Either way, I think Lachlan Plowman would be an excellent addition down at Punt Road and would bring some much needed flexibility to the team.

Good write up BH, Plowman i like for his attack & aggression at the contest, has very good speed and isnt afraid to take the game on, also quite strong one on one, agree that he could quite easily move into the midfield and perhaps we have the best of both worlds in that he can play key back and in time slot into the midfield.

Taylor Garner. Jungle Drums beating that he is the pick. Has been interviewed three times by the club.

I have heard similar Scoop, although I've heard that he's one of 3 or 4 candidates. I really hope they've done their homework on the shoulders because this has the potential to be a career killer.

Have it on very good authority that we are extremly keen on Taylor Garner. A mate of mine had Taylor over at his house the other night
Freo & Weagles are also sniffing around.
Have seen Taylor play at Under 16 level at Rowville & played on a wing most of the year - freakish ability.
Played forward at Stingrays and was impressive.
Will have to take him at pick 9 as he will be long gorn by the time we have our next pick.
Taylor is also a mad Tiggers fan.

Francis & the recruiting team have picked up a few players over the last couple of years from Stingrays - Batchelor, Ohanlon, Piva Wright, Todd Elton

Garner great get at second round pick. We wouldn't dare go past Mr Plow or Vlas that would be sheer lunacy. Mr Plow if he drops to us then everyone start celebrating :spin

Bully as the Garner drums beat louder have you an opinion / write up for him ?

Looks a bit of a stretch at 9 too me (would be fine with getting him though), but I'd love to grab him at 32. Couldnt he just have a big night out and sleep in some spew on the steps of the heraldsun? Looks like hell end up about Lids sized with similar overhead ability. Sounds like the shoulder's fixed but the engine could need some work? Love the plumbing apprenticeship and the tiger fan. Could be the second coming of Sheeds? Interviews and plays like a kid Hardwick's gotta love. He is a flanker by every definition though.
