Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

I would have thought with Houli, Batchelor and Morris, maybe throw in Helbig, Ellis and Conca all playing down there at times, Newman's spot is already well covered.

I meant more if his strengths are courage, leadership and competitiveness and the ability to intercept mark.

I'm sure whoever we pick at 9 will bring some great attributes, and hopefully unique talents, to the team.

A lot could change, particularly if Melbourne get stripped of their picks, but I'm hearing that Macrae and Grundy won't be available, Vlastuin will be there and Plowman might also be in the frame.

Vlastuin beat him in the 3km time trial at the combine. Hrovat racks up more possessions because of his tenacity and the style of his play.

Just on Hrovat he had the highest skin folds of anyone at the draft camp.

Richo always had the highest skin folds at the club too.

That's because we didnt draft anyone over 80kg's in 10 years and not one of them put on any weight during that time either. Our strenght and conditioning coach must have believed protein shakes were all that was required

I know Relton wasn't, but I was sure Fatty Farmer was on the list for at least a year when Richo was around!

I know I've only seen the highlights - but I really like the look of Simpson - a dead ringer for a young Mickey O. Why isn't he being thrown up as an option - what's the knock?

I've heard we are keen on Taylor Garner. I think I'd prefer him over Vlastuin even though he is more of a forward.

Nicely balanced, eager and confident

Consistency. He's very much a cameo performer at this stage but yes, he's capable of mercurial things. He's far from a sure thing though, probably not worth risking pick 9 on. And he won't last till 32, so no point really in discussing him as an option.
