Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Don't mean to frighten everyone, however, Vlastuin is the 2nd coming of Brock McLean. Probably has a little more penertration in his kicking, however, similar athletic capability. Guess who drafted Brock at a reasonable reach at No.5?

Get me Mayes, Macrae or Plowman please Francis
Brock Mclean is clearly a headcase. Wasn't the worst player at his peak at Melbourne. Seems a strange comparison. What specifically are your concerns about Vlastulin?

McLean isn't the sharpest knife in the draw either. Flossy is much smarter.

I get what Mr Magic is saying. Vlas is IMO a better Brock McLean. Much better kick of the ball and less of a fruit loop.

Vlas is not athletic. But he reads the play well like McLean, wins his own ball like McLean and thrives at the contest.

But the kickinig is the big difference, Vlas can really punch the ball low and hard. But overall, I think Brock McLean is a reasonable template.

That type of footballer is back in vogue a little given the changes to the bench.
Look at the impact Tuck has had this year.

I see Vlastuin as Tucks replacement in the coming years but a better more skilful version.

I see him as Jackson's immediate replacement, on just about every measure he's superior.

I know Vlastuin is the likely top ten pick of the two... but can anyone tell me why we would take Vlastuin over Hrovat?

I'm not sure why Hrovat is supposed to be so much later in the draft. Wins heeeaps of the ball, leader, kicks both feet well, good in traffic, captains sides, wins bests and fairests...

He is short.
But i'm not sure why he's so far down the list. I'd rather him than Vlastuin.

As is Macrae, Mayes and Plowman

Different types but I get your point, Plowman is an interesting one, could be a smokey for our pick.

I would hope Helbig is Jackson's immediate replacement.

yeah, he's kinda the forgotten man but there's a lot to like about Hellboy

If we play it safe like the past few years then it has to be Vlastuin, no frills footballer much like Conca, Ellis and Batch.
MaCrae has to be a strong chance if we are prepared to take a bit of a risk
If we reach a little or consider a smokey i'll back Garner

Vlastuin makes sense looking ahead to fill the whole left by Chris Newman.

but Maccrae has tricks too

Have never watched a TAC cup game only the highlight clips and what I read here and on other sites but my preference in order for pick 9 is;

McCre
Stringer
Vlastuin

For me McCrea seems the safest bet, I love the way he moves and creates. Stringer could be anothe Pavlich but his broken leg which still appears to be giving him a limp is a major concern. Vlastuin looks like a ripper and would no doubt be a fan favorite with his attack at he contest but feel we need a guy who creates more than bulldozes. That said if we got any of this 3 I would be happy.

Mayes, get on it. I like him, good character, I like the way he plays. Could. Play centre and forward to a high level

I would have thought with Houli, Batchelor and Morris, maybe throw in Helbig, Ellis and Conca all playing down there at times, Newman's spot is already well covered.
