Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Maybe you could start a McCrae versus Vlastuin poll?

Nah, no need for a poll. If we pick Vlastuin then so be it, I have faith in FJ and co. I just think that Macrae is exactly the type we need. We need the inside types too. Either would be welcomed but I'd prefer Macrae as he can do both and has a bit of class and 'X factor' about him.

Grundy going to us at 9 has the same chance as Garlett lasting to our second round pick.

Agree, and surely Melbourne will get him at #4 if he is there?

They are screaming out for a backup for Jamar.

Gee Tdogga, you could be our Johnny on the spot & later be able to brag that you were there when we picked up McCrae/Vlastuin or ????.
It would be a great experience, go & enjoy

I have a chance to go and see the draft live down on the Gold Coast but I am not sure if I should go. It would break with the tradition (feels like 10 years worth but not sure if it is) of being in the chat room with the PRE members as the players are read out and everyone pumps in the instant feedback. Then the frenzied posting afterwards. It can be a very entertaining time in the ol' chat room.
Then again, this will probably be the only chance I get to attend the draft. It's on a school night though and it will take me an hour and a half to get home afterwards, and of course once I get home I will want to read all the threads and everyones opinions, etc.
Not sure what I should do, but I have to decide by tomorrow....

What would you do?
Go for it young man! Wouldn't want to look back, in 10 years, and go... "wish I went".

Td I reckon you should go to the draft. You have form as PRE's official interviewer so hopefully you can stick your pretend mic in and get us a scoop. Maybe you could write a report of your experience or even text some goss if there's any. You're correct about the PRE draft chat being an experience not to be missed but I'd be happy to copy and paste it for you to read at your leisure.

You're only young once. Go for it.

Thanks Rosy, that'd be awesome if you could do that.
After the feedback from you, CC, TT33 and K3 I have decided I will attend.
:hihi @ pretend mic ... I will see what I can do. And I will be happy to write a report of my experiences and fire off the odd text message (better send me a mobile number to txt to though as I don't do Twatter and don't have a smart phone).
Thanks for the feedback people. 8-

Great to hear Dogga, hope you really enjoy it. :clap
Look forward to your thoughts on the whole experience

What makes you say that Gus?

He's a top 5 or 6 in talent but I don't think the clubs in the first 15 selections or so will take a chance on him. Could easily slip to the 2nd round.
Can't really say a lot more than that on a forum.

Sounds like Darling MKII, I've just got a sneaking suspician he'll land at Collingwood.

I'm a big fan of his. I don't think he will go top 10 though

On Simpson, I too am a fan from what I've seen of him. Remember watching the Vic v WA game where I thought he really stood out.

Where do you think he'll go Gus? Are there any concerns with him off field - ala Garlett? Would love to see his name called out at 32 or 34.

How did you score the gig TD?

I would love to head down too. No tix are advertised. Someone on BF said they were told by th GCCC to just turn up and you will get a seat. That doesnt sound quite right.

Is Wines that good for a top 4? Can Melb afford to take two very similar players in Wines and Viney or will they look for a taller player with their pick 4.

Need more logic for Wines and Viney to have played junior footy together and being friends for Melb to pick him up.

I am not in the scene for juniors so personally have no idea.

Would you want Toby Greene and Joel Selwood in the same side? In a side that lacks hard nuts these two are the pefect fit.

Wines is every bit a top 4 pick. Would love him to snag him.

That sounds about right to me BT. I might go too. Might take my 9 yo, get him used to it so when the Tigers call his name with pick 20 in 2021 (really hope Tassie or Darwin dont take him at 1 or 2, I might have him act 'troubled' through the 2021 TAC season), hes not overawed. date/time/venue TD?

Yep I think Toby Greene is one of the steals from last years draft and plenty on here were interested in him with our pick but he didn't quite make it through.
The good thing is both the players you mentioned went for about pick 9 ish didn't they which bodes well for our pick.

Not sure on the exact details but it's on the 22nd of November at The Gold Coast Convention Centre.

Sounds good TTT. Hopefully the QRSC get a little more of a Richmond insight though. 8-
