Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

I'm tipping Colquhoun to end up at Collingwood. Saw it here first! ;)

You answered it Greasy Trays. Think the back flank will suit him. We are just about full up for what we ned back there. Not unlike Chris Newman or Heath Scotland.

Would take him in the second round. At nine we can get a more damaging player

Think he's a lot classier than Newman or Scotland. More Hartlett from what leysy's seen. Love how he just knocks up getting it wherever he plays.

With a boot like wouldnt have any issues with how damaging he can be either ILO.

Leysy's tipping Sam to turn out far better then where he's rated by most.

All personal opinion & we wont know the answer yet, but think he'll end up a better player than Wines for one. Dont expect to get much support on that.

Suprised at the Gus. Think he has that unique thing that really good players have. Time with the ball. Never rushed.

Yeah agree.

Thing leysy likes is that he is very instinctive with ball in hand. Knows what he is doing before he gets it, Its second nature. Looks very one-touch as well. Love those things in player.

I'll take that bet. Wines is the one for us. Perfect fit. Will be gone but a jet. Fierce attack on the ball. Joel Selwood type.

The players I like probably won't be players we are considering.
Simpson, Vlastuin and Plowman would be there abouts.

Pretty sure we're hot on Vlastuin and he's ours if there.

Well that's the talk. Internet talk.

Colquhoun will go first round. But don't want at 9. Quite a few I'd take before him at 9.

I like this boy. Far superior than Vlastuin from the vision I have seen.

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

I have no idea who we'll take but it will be someone who hasn't been mentioned, yet we couldn't believe he lasted to pick 9 - though other clubs placed in the second round!

Who should we try to get with our current picks 9, 32, 34, 43

Pick 9, 32, 34 and 43 are the only ones I see us using, and I think we could get some quality talent with this years draft.

I saw on a phantom draft on the bigfooty forums and for our pick 9 we got Jackson Macrae-that would be a dream result with his great outside run

I think we should try and get these players

pick 9-Jackson Macrae-Reminds me of a young Pendlebury, tall skinny runny mid/half forward roughly 190cm, in a game against tassie he kicked 6 goals and in a school match gathered 40 something touches. He also was BOG in the TAC Cup Grand Final

Pick 32-Tim Membrey-If he slips through to here that would be amazing, hes a medium sized forward with the ability to kick many goals, with a bag of 8 in the tac cup.

Pick 34-Matthew Haynes-I dont know much about him but apparently hea really good quick player who was a potential top 10 pick last year and i think there still could be that in him.

Pick 43-I highly doubt he would even not be picked up by pick 20 but I was reading a phantom draft and he slipped past pick 43 and this is because his size, he is tiny and other than that he is a tough high possession winning mid, if he were about 185cm i would have him almost in the top 10.

I'd like to here your thoughts

Who were you picking at 43?

Sounds like you want Hrovat at 43 from the description, don't think he'll last, he's pushing 1st round selection.

For mine:

9 - Macrae/Stringer/Mayes
32 - Broomhead
34 - Atkins
43 - Pongracic

This changes pretty much daily though.

I like the idea of having somebody called Broomhead at the club.

And ideally somebody called Mitch ;D

Would also love Vlastuin at 9, he's pretty much a sure thing and we can't afford to stuff these picks up.

That'll do. ;)
I think Port will take Broomhead just before us.

Macrae or Mayes would be an excellent result but I don't think rolling the dice with Stringer would be such a good idea.

Me either. Saw Macrae and didn't read the other names at pick 9. ;D I doubt Mayes will be there either.

I still think we will be going with Vlastuin at pick 9.

FJ and his team evaluate a player over a 3 year period. And I think Vlastuin has the runs on the board over that period of time.

The jungle drums have been pretty strong on this beat for the past three months.

It's so strong that it makes me think it's a smoke screen.

You may well be right, but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we took the plunge. He has the potential to be an absolute, out and out gun. Just got a feeling about him too, he's a determined boy.

True, though I haven't actually seen anything about the club being publically linked to the kid, nothing about us interviewing him or showing any particular interest. Jungle drums have been beating on the internet because he seems the type the Hardwick and FJ would go for based on recent recruiting, but I don't think that's enough to use as a smoke screen.
