Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Gotta say I am warming to Stringer atm. Recon he could be a great addition to the club.

From the devotees out there, any chance Sam Mayes gets through to us.

Would be ideal for what we need, also like in a player that they have continued to improve through the year & didnt slack off after Champs. Especially in a comp like the SANFL.

Has far more impressive numbers than someone like Ben Kennedy at that level for example.

Really good indication that he can step up.

Massive chane to still be there at 9. Huge.

Ah well those responses sorted that out. ;D

You a fan Scoop?

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Yep. Does a lot of things really well. Wonderful user. And will fill out quickly.

It's wide open after pick 3. Anything could happen.

Anything could happen but Mayes probably won't slip out of the top ten and is more likely to go before pick 9. Port will give him serious consideration given he's a local lad and has performed strongly in the SANFL, not to mention he's a quality disposer of the football. If he does end up slipping to pick 9, I'd say he'd be in the picture, he certainly ticks a lot of boxes from an FJ perspective and comes with the finishing skills that would be welcome at Tigerland.

I take it you skimmed over the part where it describes his persistent limp and awkward running style.

I never said first pick. If he's still there for our second pick we'd be mad not to, he comes across as the type of kid that will do anything to make it in the big league.

Second rounder maybe, I must admit I'm a little wary of severe leg breaks after seeing Nathan Brown's career shattered in one foul swoop. I'm no doctor but those x-rays aren't pretty, definitely damaged goods if you ask me.

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

If the doctors say Stringer will be ok, I say go for it at 9.

Nathan Brown was 'ok' to play as well, but there's no denying it wrecked his career. The fact that Srtinger is limping around doesn't fill me with much confidence, certainly too big a risk at 9.

As I haven't read the article I am not 'with it' on the break but it sure doesn't sound good for the lad, which is always really sad.

So... number 9 hey? :)

Would anyone else trade pick 9 for Collingwood's 17, 18 and 20?

YES. You would get a top 10'er we want slip through to 17 and then take the cream of the 2nd round with 18 and roll the dice with 20 (punt on the 'troubled' genius).

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

No way would Collingwood even consider that deal for a second, it's lunacy, especially in a draft with such an even 5-20. They have done very, very well to land those picks. I would much rather their position than ours TBH.

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

There's talk that we're trying to trade Post and pick 9 to the Dogs for their pick 6 again.

This time though, we're looking to on trade 6 along with a mature player to GWS for Tyson.

Probably horseradish...

I'd rather we on trade 6 for 12 and 14 if that were to happen

Gus, Scoop & others -

Any reason Sam Colquhoun isn't talked about for pick 9.

Having a look through the Champ matches & the kids almost a Hamish Hartlett clone.

Smashed the carnival - SA' best. AA. 28 touches a match. & has knocked up getting it for Central Districts two's afterwards.

One of the best kicking actions you will ever see. Poetry. Jack & Co would be locking there lips with him running at them.

Is it because he plays mid/back & is possibly a bit like an upgraded Ellis in role or question marks on winning his own ball?

Looks a player to leysy. Big time.

Tell you what the more leysy looks the standard of footy & player available, this year is miles ahead of last when we had guys like Bunting, Haynes, Tomlinson, Sumner etc taken top 10. All big risks to make it, even then. This years top 12-15 look classes above.

Leysy's not scared to pot an early pick if he see's something he queries, but most look good instinctive footballers.

Trading post to get 3 spots higher in the draft sounds silly to me. Especially when we can prob get the same player at 9 as at 6.
Is 3 spots higher gonna get the Tyson deal done. All seems a bit of a waste really. Same same
