We could really make a clean sweep of the draft if we could pick up Broomhead with one of our second round picks....

Hope we dont have to sweep this one under the carpet

I doubt we'll brush him off unless he comes cross very deadpan in his interview.

Broomhead is the right type. I have no solid view on him but he is close to Atkins who won the Calder B&F last night. If we walked away with both in the second round I would be over the moon.

I also really like Nathan Hrovat. True rover. In and under ball winner. I learnt my lesson last year with Toby Greene. This boy is a shorter version.

Agree. Have watched 2 of the U18 Champ games in the last few days (VM vs VC from Simmonds and VM vs WA from Etihad) and i was really really impressed with Hrovat. He has been talked down alot on forums and phantom drafts mainly due to his lack of height and perceived lack of speed but he is very good player; a pure footballer. Very solid at everything and very quick footy brain. Sees things quickly around him and executes well by both hands and feet. Pick 9 might be a reach but i'm nearly tempted. If we could get a pick inside 20 id certainly take a punt on him with a teen pick.

Vlastuin was also in both games and to be honest, i'm not sold on him at all. He was played off half back though, not on the ball so i dont know how he is as a midfielder but in the 2 games above he looked ordinary to be honest. Nothing stood out at all; moves average, kicking style is a bit iffy and kicks hit and missed a bit. Does have mungrel and goes hard but overrall just didnt look that great in these games to warrant picking him at 9. Maybe he just had a bad few games but you can usually see a player with real class and to me, i didnt see it.

O'Rourke is the player, who, if available we should get IMO. Played in the midfield and just has all the skills and tools to be a great midfielder. Runs to the right positions all the time; is slightly more outside than inside from the 2 games i saw but can still get his own ball. Is very good both by hand and foot and pushes forward to kick goals also. Kicke goals pushing forward in both games. Is a little on the skinny side but that can be developed obviously. Also a mad Tiger supporter so a little cherry on top.

hrovat will be be the big mover on draft night - we need a true rover to stand up for foley

Those games have turned me around as well. I thoght Toby Greene was just a plodder who couldn't keep finding the ball at the same rate once he got to the AFL. His size would hold him back. But I was wrong, probably as wrong as I have ever been about a player. And Horvat is 3cm shorter then Sam Mitchell. That's nothing and who I think he plays like. A very solid lad as well. We need inside help. If we get the best possible mid at 9 who has polish, I would like to see us take Hrovat in the second round. Finding the ball is a skill. He has it.

some news on Garlett,
apparently he got kicked out of the AIS academy.
and apparently he has a bit of an attitude as well. news coming from the combine camp....

if by some miracle hes available for our second pick ok, but don think we should be getting him at 9.

That's old news. Apparently he interviewed well at the combine.

It wasn't all good. The more I learn from those in the know, the less keen I am.

I'll just leave it at that.

Like Hrovat. Hopefully 2nd round. Disagree with Mikee's knock on Vlastuin's kicking - looks long and penetrating to me.

:'(

Tuck also has a long, penetrating kick, wouldn't class Shane as skillful by foot (set shot, yes). If he's gonna be a midfielder you have to have more than just a 'long penetrative kick'. Gotta be good at hitting up and spotting all kinds of targets. Anyway, not saying Vlastuin is no good, just from those two games I didn't see much class about him and his kicking style didn't look that good.

Yes he did interview OK but I'm now over him for pick 9.

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Is Garlett doing a Jack Darling? Odds on he is heading to Freo with their first pick.

Hi guys, I'm a regular poster in another forum but this is the first time I've dipped my toes in the PRE pool so go easy ;)

Thought I'd throw in a hypothetical that doesn't appear to have been discussed here - trading with the Dogs to get pick 5 or 6, then trading it on to GWS for picks 12 and 13/14 (unsure what it will be just yet due to FA comp).

Some have suggested we package 9 and Post to get pick 6. Not completely unrealistic, we have to assume the Dogs have some interest in the mailman though. Others have suggested packaging 9 with Edwards to get 5 which I personally think is overs. Would want pick 21 as well.

If we were to end up with 12 and 13, would the PRE draft watchers be against calling out Garlett's number? If we were to end up with Vlastuin and Garlett I would be ecstatic. These guys are two things we desperately need. In fact 12&13 could land us any combination of Vlastuin, Garlett, Kennedy, Menzel, Stringer, even Plowman/Clurey if we're after another KPD prospect.

Great 'highlights' clip, anyone know more about this kid?

I'm a big fan of his. I don't think he will go top 10 though

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Exciting prospect.

Question for Gus & others, does he win enough ball?

Don't reckon Titch is on the table at all, Biro, but trading up then down would be genius.
