Pick 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

More relevant when you only have 5 guys on the field at the same time instead of 18 I think.
Just higher numbers good players keep you in the game great players win them for you

yeah like taylor but not at 9
I wasn't talking about 9 for Taylor but some people have him 60 and higher and I think he has a lot of talent

I reckon the Pies grand final win either proves that theory wrong or is the exception to the rule. As does the Swans win this year.

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

I wouldn't call Adam goodes, Scott pendelbury, Dane swan, josh Kennedy just good players and the hawks I think buddy Mitchell and rioli fit the mold so not much more than the swans. Saints the same.

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Goodies and Kennedy are 2 players out of 18.

When the Pies won the flag Pendlebury and Swan weren't considered elite yet.

A couple of star/elite players are the cream, and we have Cotchin and Lids, with Martin and Jack as two more that can get there. But without a solid core of good players we'll never challenge.

Nick Stevens, the coach of the Gippsland Power was on SEN this morning talking about Membrey.
He said Membrey was Team Captain, rarely missed a shot at goal, was a ready-made AFL player and would develop into a high half forward.
Hopefully he lasts to mid-second round.

Now that the list looks to be basically sound, it would make sense to put some "icing on the cake."
A "Daisy" Thomas / Dyson Heppell type might just be the extra sparkle that we need.

Tim Membrey stats:

Indicates he kicked 41 goals 19 behinds from 12 games.
Pretty good, but hardly "Rarely misses a shot!"

And we took CONCA.

Thanks MR, I would have loved to have been there.

Unfortunately, in the end, preparations at Central Reserve for the on-coming cricket season, then managing a junior Chess tournament at Monash University had to take priority.

But thanks again for the summary.

Questions.
1. Would Graham, now, justify himself as a first round pick?
2. Did Membrey show that he could progress from being a lead-up medium forward to a mobile medium HFF/CHF?

Phantom do you work for Chesskids or ChessVictoria?

He can play but I'm not sure what position he might go.

I should add that his jumping was well above average.

Thanks Gus. Appreciate the feedback. The times and stuff aren't online are they apart from top 10?

I really like Broomhead as a prospect. Has a bit of a Collingwood type midfielder to me. (Beams/Sidey) Think he could slot in on a HFF and rotate on ball. Also has some ability to play off HBF to begin with and develop his defensive side as we like to do.

Broomhead is the right type. I have no solid view on him but he is close to Atkins who won the Calder B&F last night. If we walked away with both in the second round I would be over the moon.

I also really like Nathan Hrovat. True rover. In and under ball winner. I learnt my lesson last year with Toby Greene. This boy is a shorter version.

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

Sorry, is Broomhead this kid's actual name?

Yep. No nickname required. Maybe Smithy.

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

So he'd make a good HB sweeper? What's his personality like? Not too bristly?

Re: Pic 9 ND 2012 – Who should we pick?

We could really make a clean sweep of the draft if we could pick up Broomhead with one of our second round picks....
