Simple fact is that he's playing better for than he did 2 years and 4 years ago.
He's grown and improved

Let me say Dimma moved him around and never let him settle, like a few of our kids . Blind freddy could see key defender was his role Yze did the basics.

Yeah, Dimma was more interested in playing his favourites like Rance, Grimes, Astbury, Broady, Balta and Tigga in those KPD roles than developing Funky

They were all already developed right?

And Miller was screaming to get picked in the twos with his backline form. I'm sure of it. He musta had so many games where he got 1 or 2 possessions every quarter!!

Talk about the last 2 seasons when rejuvenation needed to come in. Another case is Hugo playing in his correct role. Maybe some here blind when it comes to see Dimmas faults of late.

what about the years those players weren't available/retired? Miller had opportunities to play back and was played in the wrong position(s) for 2 seasons.

He did play back. Probably most if his vfl career has been back.

Truth is that he wasn't better than Balta (still isn't) or Grimes and Broady and Flossy

Grimes, Broad, & Vlastuin aren't key backs.

the last 2 seasons? if he did it wasn't a significant percentage of games as he was fwd/Ruck (played out of position) for the vast majority of those games.

Dimma preferred Young over Miller. So did Yze before Gibcus got injured. Or maybe it was Livo. :blowingup

Grimes played key back. Ahead of Miller.
No shame with that, Grimes an absolute legend.
Miller is coming to the fore now.
Because he wasnt the best choice /good enough over the first 6 seasons of his career.
He wasnt held back.
Well done to the club when we all wouldve delisted him. Good list mgt in this.

Not everyone, including me. I said he was being played in the wrong position at the time and am proven correct.
I agree his best position is a key back.

We need a backup ruck and a key forward so ive got no problem that the club trialled him in these positions.
That experience might ve helped him too.

2 years isn't a trial but I get your point.

Drafted @ pick 63 in Nov 2017
Got a 1 year extension in 2019
Moved to Rookie list in Nov 2020
3 years on Rookie list, 2021,22 & 23
Moved back to main list in Oct 2023
2 year extension in June 2024

Its quite a story
The story of his will for AFL footy pre being drafted showed real determination what with all his travel and miles he had to do to train and even then when drafted it was obvious he had a lot to learn so was a project player. Seven years on, it was worth it.

How many had him delisted over the past few years?
I said back then, that he only needed to be settled in one position instead of being thrown all over the place. I’m glad he’s defied all the pundits that had him off the list.
Well done for working hard and the club for persevering with him.
I will admit I wanted him gawn! He has made me eat my words. Looks every bit a footballer now. I must say the Tigers have been patient and deserve kudos for that and his development.
