Olympics 2012 - London

Lauren Jackson was a very good choice, despite the pressure from Natalie cook to appoint a female

Can anyone advise why neither our men or women are competing in soccer yet our friends from over the ditch (New Zealand) are ? Did they beat us in the Oceania region ? I can't recall the circumstance but strikes me as odd that they are in London and our supposedly rapidly growing world game sides couldn't make it.

Interesting that not many of the Europena powers are competing either - Germany, France, Holland etc. obviously limited spots.

Remember that Australia has to qualify through Asia now. Not only is it tougher, but there are less spots at the Olympics. The same goes for the big European sides. New zulund qualified because unlike the world cup, oceana actually gets a full spot. They only had to beat the likes if Fiji and the Solomon islands to qualify

Cook may have being carrying it herself if it was not for her outburst, she is at her 5th olympics the most by any female

Yeah what with that i always thought she was a Good Bloke

Can't believe how much money was wasted on that opening ceremony.

When will they understand that less is more.

Agree. It looked more like another Lady Gaga concert to me. It was terrible.

I tuned in just as the teams started coming out, must say there is one hell of a lot of very attractive ladies in the games village :-* :-* :-*

No wonder its an orgy of mass preportions towards the end

Man Cavendish is a whinger isn't he. Other competitors trying to shut down the favorites fancy that.

I believe the race was being held in his honour and the other competitors contravened the rules by not allowing him to win the gold medal.

The right result ensued then.

What an absolute wanker well done Aussies for ruining for him. :clap :clap :clap.

Millsy needs to get rid of those lemon boots. C'mon Boomers we can't lose to Brazil!

Pity Magnussen didn't save his hot air for the pool. Poor swim. Big disappointment for the hot favourite 4 x 100 mens relay team to not even get a medal.
