Oh,another good thing. The Olympic's being on for 2 weeks takes my focus off Richmond! ;D

Problem is the performance so far is very much like Richmond's over the past month! ;D

Very happy with Foxtel coverage of the games.

Just watching the opening ceremony now that I recorded the other day. Fast forwarding the crappy bits but gee it's very good!

Yeah,Tomic didn't look like he wanted to be there, the men volleyballer's weren't travelling that well and the " missile " fused out,but it's all good! :cupgold

Check the Fencing out.Look's a like a set from Tron. Not bad to watch either!

Coverage is great on Fox.8 Channels! :clap

i've only watched a total of about 20 mins so far... i just can't get into it the olympics this time. but i did flick through the foxtel channels out of curiosity last night and it was incredibly impressive. excellent coverage.

I was watching the Women's Handball between Sweden and Denmark it was most entertaining, just like watching the Dutch female hockey team. Table tennis on now as well as Kookaburras vs Sth Africa. Foxtel doing an outstanding job.

The Australian swimming team sent me an email saying "Dear Richmond supporter, stop barracking for us. Thank you" :hihi

Maybe we need more 15 year old female Chinese swimmers.....they can swim faster than the men apparently

What everyone's take on Hooper wearing an Aboriginal shirt at the boxing?

I'm Aboriginal, I'm representing my culture, not only my country but all my people as well," said Hooper of his motive for wearing the T-shirt.
"That's what I wanted to do and I'm happy I did it.
"I was just thinking about my family and that's what really matters to me.
"Look what it just did - it just made my whole performance a lot better with that whole support behind me.
"I'm not saying that at all that I don't care (about a possible sanction), I'm just saying that I'm very proud of what I did."

Hopefully the AOC and IOC put this bozo back in his place.
"His people" as he calls them are Australian and he is respresenting all Australians, no matter their race or creed.
We already have an official flag and team uniform.
Thats what should be worn.

Not good enough from Hooper in my opinion. All this will do is spark another "us against them" debate.

I can see what the big deal is.

Can or can't? I reckon it is potentially an issue as the causes of some may be a bit less politically correct, which means officials may have to make a call: Aboriganal motiff on shirt = ok; Swastika = not ok. This is a pretty black and white example; however, I reckon there could be some inflamatory stuff between Serbs and Croats, Greeks & Macedonians etc...

Covered all grounds. All's fine by me.

I think at the end of the day, we all come from "somewhere else".
Even Aborigines came from parts of Asia millions of years ago.

If all Australian athletes carried flags or wore t-shirts denoting their family heritage, then where do we stop?

If Hooper gets away with it...why can't Liz Parnov (Aussie pole vaulter) wear a Russian t-shirt? Tomic a Croatian shirt? or Seebohm wave a German flag?

Its disrespectful for Australia, the nation and its people.
We have a flag and uniform, lets be proud of that and what it represents....which is ALL of us.

They all go over there under the same banner regardless of race etc etc.. What's more concerning is we're getting smacked at most things. The swimmers talk a big game but don't have the tools to back it up, Tomic see : Swimmers. This is the first olympics in a while that the track & field team may well beat the Swimming team for medals won. Put the Kookaburras down as a lock for gold though, they looked great last night. As for the Opals they were horrendous, the cycling track team are hopefully ready to fire.

Its been a low-key Olympics I think.
I think its the smallest team we have sent since 1992, and I think too that during the 1990s/2000s, I think many of our sports were in their prime...cricket, rugby league, rugby union, gold medals left right and centre at the Olympics too.
Sport was at its peak I think.

Now, I don't know what it is with our national teams and at the Olympics but we just don't seem 'as good' anymore? ???

Pretty ordinary. Quite disrespectful imo. All athletes representing Australia should wear the official uniform no matter their background. It wouldn't be a good look if they all showed up at whim in their civvies, especially trying to make a political statement. Would those who see nothing wrong here with condone someone formerly from Russia, for example, who lined up for Australia wearing their flag, or a Long Live Gorbachev t-shirt, someone being paid to show up wearing a "Shop at Aldi" or a "Vote Green" slogan etc? Until, and unless, the Aboriginal colours are part of our official uniform it's not acceptable to wear them when officially representing our country.
