Olympics 2012 - London

And I'll stay awake overnight to watch the Australian teams pursuit pull down the pants of their Britich counterparts.

Yeah, the cycling is pretty cool. Weightlifting is my favourite - I like that it is just man against iron. It's a good sphere for countries with not many entrants to get a sniff.

A female cousin of mine is competing in the rowing ( no, not lay down Sally). I think they have a decent chance of getting a medal.

I must like the Olympics. Getting a new telly for the bedroom tomorrow in preparation.

Rosy, 50 inch LCD with 3D ? Curious minds need to know !

If people like The Olympics and facebook, you can "Like" the Australian Olympic Team and get some interesting updates. They have been steadily announcing the team selections.
p.s Women's Hockey Team :clap

I actually enjoy the Winter Olympics more but am looking forward to London.. Not big on the swimming more the soccer and boxing for me.

I'll be rearranging my entire schedule to watch as much as possible - I'll be a vampire by the end of it! Athletics is the pinnacle - by a mile. Everything else is an add-on. Hopefully one of Ch.9/Fox Sports can go 27 minutes without an ad break so we can watch the 10,000m in its entirety, but even in the middle of the night I won't bet on it.

Agree that athletics are the pinnacle and love the 1500, 5000 and 10,000. The surges the africans put on at various stages in the 10,000 are staggering. In my naivety I still think there is something pure about those longer distance races.

Also enjoy the will of the rowers, the power, grace & agility of the gymnasts (the mens high bar and floor being the best), the sheer power of the weightlifters, the underhand tactics of the water polo, the madness of the pole vault, the speed and danger of the cycling and the fearlessness of the divers

The men's floor ("hello boys!") is incredible. Lay of the Olympics is Steve Hooker in the pole vault. Lost his nerve.

Lay basically means to bet against something. It's a bookies' term.

Anyone had a look at www.lonodon2012.com?

It's terrible and very slow, full of junk advertising, images and video dominate which further impedes the speed. About as bad as the job Telstra does with the AFL site

Link is broke

but yeah, kind of lacklustre web site isn't it?
Actually, I have this strange feeling this is the lowest key buildup to an Olympics ever

My cousin has been training in Nth Italy the last month or so. Looks like they are expecting a few medals.

Looking forward to the Olympics, one of my best 2 weeks was attending the Sydney Olympics.
Love watching the Athletics and Cycling best, then Basketball, Trialthon, Equestrian , Weightlifting, Rowing, Canoeing (especially the slalom) and even the Gymnastics I can watch.

Personally think Swimming is better over rated especially any race of the 100, with the 1500 race as exciting as night out with Grant Hackett when he is only drinking water.
