Olympics 2012 - London

Spent a couple of days in Ballarat this week and the motel I was at didn't have the 8 Foxtel channels. By the second night I was sick of the garbage being served up by Ch 9. Lots of self promotion and swimming and not much else! Very frustrating. On the plus side I can tell you all about every show coming to Ch 9 in the next 6 months - and none of them look remotely interesting or worth watching. In the end turned the volume off and didn't bother staying up late or getting up early.

Agree, I have no Foxtel so stuck with 9. Possibly the worst coverage of a major sporting event I have ever seen. Ken Sutcliffe FFS? How is he still employed?
9 was once the best sporting channel but they've fallen such a long way.

Also making our way to the big boys in the weightlifting, gonna see some massive weights being thrown around.

Hey tbar, don't you reckon even if the weightlifters don't need a weightbelt they should wear one in a competition anyway. It seems to me to give a definite advantage when you are performing near your maximum lift. Also I note that some lifters just have a really light lycra suit, while other's suits look if they are a fair bit thicker. Seems to me you could get an advantage with a thicker gauge suit that gives you a bit of a bounce at the bottom of the squat. Powerlifters use them in competition, why wouldn't olympic lifters at least push the thickness barrier to the limit?

Also surprised they don't all wear neoprene kneebraces and elbow braces for the same reason.

Been enjoying the coverage in the Gulf. McAvaney is commentating. Like ol' days but without the jingoistic Australiana permeating each sentence. Nicole Livingstone, however, is horrible.

where can we pin our hopes for another gold medal? the media seems to be shying away from any more predictions because so many things have gone pear shaped.

Edwina Topp-Alexander in Individual Show Jumping starts tonight.
She's won all major European Tournaments in the past 6 months and is a gold medal favourite.
Good rider, good looker and a lovely person.

Wow what a joke with the Boxing decisions...
Anyone up to speed with what's happening?
So many judges have been suspended or sacked.
Pathetic.

I've decided the Olympics should only contain sports where the winner isn't decided by a judges subjective decision.

Reckon the aussie boy Jai Opetaia was stiff against the No.1 ranked boxer. The favourites get a massive advantage from the judges in most cases.
