Also thought there was good chemistry between he and Prestia.

thought the same. slid it down his throat like a regurgitating ganet.

3 contested marks, 15 disposals. So nice to see a ruckman getting into the thick of action again. Just for disposal perspective, Hampson's most disposals ever is 15 and he's managed that twice in his 98 game career. Yes ut's only a pre-season game but the difference in ability is stark.

Being at the ground, gotta say that Toby 'second effort' Nankervis just put the final nail in the Hampson coffin. JLT or no. Just the way he follows up after the contest, lays tackles and throws himself in. He's a footballer who can ruck. Not a ruckman who cant football.

Yeah his follow up was mummy like and won me over.

Thank christ, im not one to bag our players but the velvet hammer is downright awful, possibly the worst player I've seen pull on our slash! need to be careful otherwise one of Pre favorites will jump in and quote hit useless hitout stats to disadvantage..

Nank looked great around the ground, sold!!!!

Love his contest, took it to Jacobs and did him around the ground. Our clearance problems look to be over. Was very pleased to see Big EEvan running freely again and that dummy and spot up to Caddy was magic! Perhaps Ivvy on the bench as the second ruck allowing Griffo to play permanent forward is a working option.

He's competitive and he competes.

2 essential attributes for a top tier ruckman.

Only one praccy game, but his work around the ground was something that I haven't seen from a Richmond ruckman for a while.

What! I thought Hampton played really well; liked his game!

Oh! Hang on ... you're referring to Hampson?

Sheesh - "... possibly the worst player I've seen pull on our slash." If that's the case you sure haven't been around very long or seen very much! But you're welcome to your opinion. Lucky you're not 'one to bag our players' though.

I'm rapt with Nank - just go and look at my posts re him. Great debut game too. I've just been wary of some posters going over the top prematurely or expecting him to set the world on fire immediately. That's been the case with some other 'Messiahs' that just couldn't measure up.

He's only a relatively young ruckman who is nowhere near his prime even yet. But it's only one JLT Cup game. Long way to go; he will be more tested going up against the Gawns, Goldsteins and Sandilands of AFL Giants-world. But the signs are really good so far.

Re the Hammer; all we seem to know is he has a back problem. Not details re nature or specifics, how long he'll be out, recovery etc. Probably from carrying our rucks last year. So, once again, it's really sensitive of you not to 'bag' him!

But think you might see Nank and the Hammer play in tandem at times in '17, depending on this injury problem. Think it will be a really interesting combo against certain teams, and really required. I even suspect both of them might play better for the support. Hammer won't have to carry virtually the whole load; both will be freed up more e.g. Nank could drift forward and create some mayhem. Needs to work on his kicking though.

So, we'll see what transpires. It was great to see Eevan do some good things out there, but not quite convinced he's up to it all season yet.

c'mon '74. we had some shockers through the 90's.

Velvet Hammer wouldnt even be emergency in our worst side for the last 30 years.

He wouldnt even be emergency in the 2nds

Yep, I started to think of some names, ET. It looked like the beginning of a nightmare, so I shut it down quickly. It just wouldn't be right to name names anyway, but quite a few come to mind.

Hang on. Can't resist just a little allusion. That other ruck giant we once took at No.1 in the draft, from SA. Remember him!

Give me Hampson over Graham any day of the week.
