Such was Fremantle's confidence yesterday in the merits of the deal, it even took aim at AFL boss Andrew Demetriou, who said Lyon should rightly face questions about his integrity.

Harris hit back hard: "I've spoken to Andrew this morning because I think his comments are inappropriate. I've advised him of that. He doesn't have a first-hand understanding of what has transpired.
"He's expressed to me that his comments were personal opinion and I don't think he's fully informed on the situation.
"Andrew's got strong opinions on a lot of things, and, in this case, he's ill-informed."

Geez you make it sound like anyone could have coached the Saints. I think regardless of your list it takes a pretty good coach to keep you close to the top. But I do agree the list inherited by Lyon was a good one. That might leave question marks about his ability to rebuild but not on his general coaching abilities I wouldn't have thought. No doubt Fremante is going to be a new test for him though, as others have mentioned, he won't succeeed bringing his Saints gamepan to Freo.

Yeah, not gonna happen, the players own professionalism would be brought in question before that happens. There will be clean up on any agitators in any event.
Still see it as a smart move by Freo - narrow window of opportunity and they took it - they identified Harvey had coaching limitations, a higher calibre coach became available for a moment and they swooped. Sounds like smart business in a land where only winning a premiership is the goal.

Out of curiosity, who would you want at your club as a coach from the below options -
1, A guy that took over a great (arguably the best) list in its prime, added a couple of top up players, employed a negative game plan and left if the going got tough or couldnt get his own way or
2, A guy that was prepared to build a list from the bottom, get quality kids in and teach them a positive game plan and was prepared to do anything to help them succede.
Also ask yourself the question, How many players would you take from St Kilda right now compared to how many players we would take from Fremantle???
