Personally, I reckon (being here in WA) that the wiriting was on the wall for Harvey. I thought that once his contract expired that would be it. He was never comfortable in front of the media, and I think was quite distant from the Freo fans.

But to sack him like that for Ross Lyon?

Man I just logged on not seeing any news tonight and have just read this thread - is today april 1.

If all correct, Lyon makes Thompson actions last year look like a polite little angel.

thank goodness we are not in the hunt for a coach. Personally I think this makes it harder for Adel and particularly Melb (with their dumb public comments about wanting Lyon - maybe they knew he was on the market) to settle a coach. At least the Doggies are going about things in a decent way.

Saints will come out firing next year (to show Lyon) but no longer have the cattle to make the 8.
Freo will stuggle as the game plans of Lyon verses Harvey are poles apart.
Doggies will struggle and finish about the same.
Dees - who knows because they certainly don't

This should be all to Richmonds advantage if we play are cards right.

Totally agree Boozy. Very two faced is "Rossy". He's obviously been dealing with Freo for weeks whilst supposedly trying to win a flag with the Saints. His management company has even parted ways with him as they had no idea what was goiung on

Just don't understand the fascination the football world has with this bloke. He is boring and his sides play boring football. You could forgive that if they won a flag but the fact is they didn't. All of his stars were recruited in the Blight/Thomas era; Riewoldt, Dal Santo, Goddard, Hayes, Fisher, Montagna, Milne etc. He has developed no young players of note and has insisted on recruiting hacks like Pattison, Polo, Peake, Dempster etc from other clubs. Also let Luke Ball go to Collingwood for nada and persists with hacks like Dawson, Raph Clarke, Blake, Kosi etc. Can't wait to see some scintillating "Dockers Footy"

And Freo have shafted Harvey big time; even worse than Essescum did to Knights last year.

That's my thoughts too. Strange.

Reckon this stinks to high hell. Ross Lyon has taken a list that was already very good and bleed it for all it's worth. No future planning, no building for tomorrow and no long term plan. The entire time Lyon has spoke about "The Bubble" and commitment to the St Kilda football club. .Really feel for blokes like Lenny Hayes, Nick Riewoldt, Brendon Goddard, Nick Dal Santo & Sam Fisher. Ross Lyon has deserted them. Dumped them cold.

Meanwhile, Mark Harvey has made hard long term calls and built a list that is in very good shape for the long term. This year Freo were doomed by the football gods. Nothing Harvey could do. Nothing any coach can do. Harvey has been shanked, jail style. Didn't even see it coming. No one did. Now Ross Lyon has seen that Freo are in great shape long term and has sleezed his way into the job. Good on Craig Kelly for sacking Ross Lyon from ESP. Shown some real leadership & character. Traits that Ross Lyon is critically lacking in.

Wish Freo nothing but failure and defeats for as long as that gutless wonder is in charge.
