Luke McGuane

Just gotta love this mindset. If the future footballer was any good he'd simply outperform the dud and expel him from the side. Plenty of opportunities for them to do so between the time Vickery, Miller struggled and McGuane was reinstated to the team.
Strange how none of these future footballers were competent enough to grab a spot ahead of an injured gimp n two abject duds.

I'm not talking about him taking a playing spot of those already on our list . I'm talking about the spot he takes on our list. I would rather have the option to draft a potential future player than retain McGuane. The odds of geting a good player are low but are no lower than expecting us to make finals and be contenders with McGuane playing senior football. This depth/big body/hard trainer/insurance stuff is complete bunkum IMO.

the only good thing about mcguane is that we can treat him like actually crap, and he will take it.

how would we treat him like 'actually crap'? and why would we want to?

Richmond's talls:

Jack Riewoldt (genius tall but bludges)
Alex Rance (average overhead after he improved but honest)
Dylan Grimes (could be anything but injury prone and 67kg. Not a tall.)
Tyrone Vickey (63kg but his dad is a boxing coach)
Ben Griffiths (skinny, learning FB because he can't get a kick and cautious in the air when he's not knocking himself out)
Jayden Post (leper)
Luke McGuane (aerially dominant back who is hilarious with the ball)
Todd Elton (potential genius who jumps clean over Jack but is timid at the level)
Tom Derrickx (played key back. Was he involved in losing a game due to lack of ability/experience? And is he 25? Srsly.)

Keeping McGuane is where we're at. For now. Looking at that list of talls where would Chaplin fit? Why would we be interested in him?

Muscles is listed as a restricted free agent.

For any visiting supporters interested in Luke's ability:
- extremely versatile key position tall
- superior abilities in the air
- swing man - think Adam Hunter finals performances
- a grade decision making abilities
- coordinated
- capable of kicking 3-4 goals a game
- umpire favorite
- imposing physique

Will not come cheap, you will probably need to bid at least 550k a year for minimum 4 years to outbid tigers. Alternatively to avoid a bidding war you could try a trade for minimum of a top 15 pick. Supporters however will likely go into meltdown to see one of our favorite players go (we are a fickle lot)

Ps don't be mislead by the previous 97 pages of vitriolic hate

Exactly right TF2008. He's a legend in the making and would be sad to see him go. He could be a great player up at GC and Brisbane. Yeah sad to see him go....yeah. Superstar power forward.....yeah sad to see him go yeah....

Can anyone confirm if McGuane has signed his 2 year contract offer from Richmond?

Just wondering if he is testing the FA waters?

Surely its not a 2 year deal?

Was 2 years apparently...the offer was made but not signed at the time.

Just wondering if he has re-signed in the meantime or if it is possible that he is testing the FA waters.

I only know that he hasn't signed.

Quite possible then that he might be trying his luck elsewhere. Good on him if that's the case. He will give us even more salary cap space.

Agree. Noticed he is a restriced free agent, which means he is in our top 25% of wage earners! He must be on good coin.

We might be planning to do that moneywise, niko. Muscles is not a top ten player at Richmond. He can see if he is anywhere else.

Free trade is put on for Muscles and for Richmond in this case.

If that is the case, surely we have offered him a contract that is a drop in pay.

Have Collingwood made a huge mistake getting Lynch under FA instead of McGuane?

Because of our free agency raid we can forget about compensation if mcguane goes free agency. We may as well delist him.

The compensation would be McGuane leaving
