His old man Gavin used to be on the school bus every day ginger top coming in from all the spud towns Gordon, Millbrook, Bungaree, Dunnstown and Leigh Creek. Mcguanes are a well known Bungaree clan including his cousin Micky Mcguane. Gavin moved to the Gold Coast captain coached Southport for a few years. So yeah young Luke probably born and raised on the Gold Coast. Ballarat claims all Mcguanes!

Really sorry I didn't get back to you earlier - too easily distracted by other threads.

Thanks for this. I never knew even though I grew up in Ballarat myself and my mother's family was originally from out that way outside Ballarat. Still have a few relatives out that way but I became a Melburnian once I left for uni long ago, so see little of them.

So that explains it then - l always thought it odd to select a player from Broadbeach tbh.

Incidentally, do you know if Luke actually became a lawyer? How else would he have become a legal partner in a firm (as Taz says)? Never knew he was that smart, but good for him, if so. But it seems odd he has got himself into such a legal/financial mess if true.
