It was the perfect sales pitch to Vossy.

Take his 3.0 and 3 goal assists away and add them to Brisbane's score = ka-ching! 2nd-rounder thanks Michael.

I shouldn't joke, McGuane plays his guts out for the club and probably doesn't want to go anywhere.

Let's hope he buys.

Mind you, McGuane looks to be ahead of some other talls on our list, notably Post.

By 60 games.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

McGun is ahead of Derrickx, Post, Miller and (for now) Elton. He may need to be kept on in the "Miller insurance" spot on the list until a better alternative comes along.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

He offered good support tonight but his opponent was Josh Drummond. A rebounding HBF who is much smaller both in height and weight and has never been a great defender. No different to when Melbourne put Dunn on him. As soon as he got a half capable key defender against North he was non existent.

Let's not go giving him a 5 year contract based off tonight.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I like his defensive pressure, he's ok when the ball's on the deck, he can take a contested mark, he'd be a hard match up as a third tall when Vickery is fit again.

Sticking with him has paid off tonight. Kicked some good goals and provided assistance for Jack.

It was one of the most valuable games he's played, but he can't do it consistently against better opposition. Last couple proved that, again.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Prefer him getting a game in front of derrickx & miller!

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Dont mind if Luke is around next year he has played well since going forward as the 2nd or 3rd tall.
He has been better than Post, Miller & Derrickx He could be our new Insurance policy

what was it his 3rd or 4th game as a forward? Im happy to play him there for the remainder of the season and give him next year as a depth player if not anything else. He looks ok as a forward and only needs slight improvement and consistancy to cement his spot.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

yeah he's a definite trade or keep category, he's shown he can kick goals at least against the lower teams. I'm hoping he finishes the year strongly.

bingo

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I'm just enjoying the fact that - if and when required - he can come in a play a role.
He's never been a star - but he's always put in effort.
In our current full-strength team - he's not in the best 22. So he probably won't get to 100 games.
But over the years he has been in our best 22 - 80 odd times.
If our best hasn't been good enough - that's not his fault. Just like I'm pretty sure he would not have picked himself as a ruckman - and yet he's been having to do that lately.
Well done Luke for a good career (so far).

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I have been impressed with what Luke McGuane has done since coming back into the team. I have always believed that Luke put in a 100% effort when he played in the team. He always plays his role for team. From what he has done so far since coming back in the team I would like to see him stay on the list and play in the forward line the whole year in 2013. I remember the interview with Roar Vision after his first game back and he mentioned that he played all his junior footy as a forward. So why did the club play him as a backman?

Happens with plenty of forwards mate. Given he will be in and out of future Tiger sides, would not be at all surprised to see him put his hand up for a possible trade to GC or BL where he may have a chance for more game time. Loyal battler, ungainly, capable of doing the unnatural at times. Commitment defines him.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Good grief, McGuane went missing against North Melbourne and Carlton.

He has gone okay versus Melbourne, Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Get the message for the love of all things holy!! Move him on.
