Luke McGuane

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Is your opinion always right?

Sorry he was 20. What would you say is an outstanding year for a 20 year old ruck/forward?

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

OK. How many goals is outstanding for a 20 year old forward?

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I can see a 1 year extension for Luke. He's done well by the club in that he has given it his all at Coburg and not spat the dummy. If we have a KPF or two go down he can play a role.

But it might depend on how Astbury & Elton come along. If they are fit and firing then Luke might be surplus.

Lets say for "arguments" sake somewhere around 60-100. Thats the range of oustanding in my opinion. Truly outstanding players at that age like Franklin, Roughead and from memory Pav, Tippett and I really cant be bothered looking up stats.

Vickery has had one good season. If he comes back next year and repeats the same as he gave this year then I fail to see why he should retain a regular spot.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

As 20 years olds Roughead kicked 40 goals (no ruck) and Tippett kicked 17.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Most goals by 196cm+ players between Vickery's minimum and maximum age in 2011:

Gl Player Hgt Ma
-----------------------------
85 Donohue, Larry 196 17
49 Richardson, Matthew 197 12
40 Johnson, Bob B. 198 18
36 Vickery, Tyrone 200 22
36 Franklin, Lance 196 7
28 McDougall, Andrew 197 17
27 Scott, Mark 196 7
26 Holland, Ben 197 15
22 Hawkins, Tom J. 197 17
18 Cloke, Travis 196 10
17 Westhoff, Justin 199 9
17 Madden, Justin 206 22
17 Everitt, Peter 201 14
16 Tippett, Kurt 203 17
14 Dunne, Emmett 197 11
13 Hale, David 201 21
12 Keating, Clark 197 12
12 Yeates, John 196 10
12 Staker, Brent 196 18
12 Gallagher, Michael 196 9
12 Lade, Brendon 199 17
11 Naitanui, Nic 201 16
11 Salmon, Paul 205 5
11 Mossop, John 196 9
11 Hille, David 202 19
10 Doyle, Stephen 204 6

By any measure Vickery was tracking exceptionally well, hence his failure to produce has been the most disappointing individual outcome of the season IMO.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Shoulder injuries tend to limit a marking forward's capabilities.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Plasma was looking very good last year. But I'm not sure what that has to do with luke.

its about depth. if TV can refind his best form he will be good back up if McGuane or Jack get injured.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Back to status quo for McDud. Very predictable coming up against decent opposition.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Provides little value up forward even if he can get possessions as his kicking for goal is poor.
Did Ok when moved onto Petrie in one on one contests.
Last year at the Club for lUke hopefully

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Played a bloody good game tonight!
3 goals, 3 goal assist, 5 tackles, 1 clearance, 90% efficiency, 1 contested mark.....not a bad nights work!

If the club can't off load him to another club.....he's not going anywhere.

Yep. Gave us another genuine target.
Best game by an alternative tall forward to Jack for the whole year.

Target?
