Ok I am going to suggest something that could be deemed insane but maybe muscles could be a forward.

He could have bagged 5 goals possibly 6 last week. He played very much within his limits ie handing off etc and if he took those chances and they came off he would have got a bag or more than likely none.

Another crazy thought is he could be worth playing in the forward line for the rest of the season and it may boost trade value and or it may just work for us.

has played a fair bit of the year as a Fwd at Coburg
he cant kick from a set shot.... wait, forget the set shot part.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Theres a chance if Luke plays well in the remaining games he could be our Insurance policy for 2013 and get another contract extension
Much prefer Luke to remain on our list than Miller

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

If he does hopefully he's not in the top 10 highest paid players next year like he is this season.

dunno, as out best performing KPF at present he probably deserves to be in our top 10 $$ earners.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Should he stay, he won't be anywhere near the top 10 earners. I would imagine his manager is working very hard to get him a spot on a list somewhere, and that might even be at Richmond if he manages to stay in the team, but it will be a 1 or 2 year gig at best and for a reduced sum.

I'm glad that we kept guys like McGuane, Moore and White on the list for 2012. It is a long season and having a few experienced players who can come in and play a role in the second half of the season is a key trait of most top 8 teams. When you hit the depths of winter, young guys don't have as much impact as they did earlier in the year and some of your best go down with injury. Being able to bring in a few 80 gamers like we have over the last fortnight has been handy.

We won't need all three next year as some younger guys have really stepped up this year but at least one will survive for one more year.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Happy for McGuane to get a contract extension the same as Tucky has been getting, where he needs to continually work hard. Certainly happy with him as defensive forward, as he was a forward as a junior. You will always get commitment from Luke for the contest, as long as he fits in with Dimma's gameplan, style & does the team 1%'s.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Depends on he performs for the rest of the season but a 1 year deal is most likely.I reckon Post,Graham and Webberly would be the one's under the pump to retain their spots.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I had always imagined that Luke would be gone at year's end but there are still 8 more games and possibly finals (?) so I've changed my tune and hope that he can turn in to a handy forward who could back up TV, Jack, Astbury and Griff next year. Good luck to him if he can do it and if he does it will probably mean that we will make the finals, as structurally having an effective CHF is what we've been crying out for all year. I can't believe I'm saying this but our season probably hinges on him performing this role. As for Post it looks like the writing is well and truly on the wall for his departure from Tigerland, if he can't get a game atm he must be really off the radar.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Based only on what I saw last week Luke is an upgrade on Miller (and with TVs poor form this year upgrade on him too)
I also wanted him gone, but maybe another Hardwick masterstroke a la Kingy as a forward.
There is no doubt Luke is tough and puts in, maybe he'l get 6-8 games as a forward to possibly resurrect himself.
Its only good for us if Luke is pushing for that spot.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Massive upgrade on Miller and our coach does have a good record of resurrecting careers that looked gone. Luke fits in to all the categories that Hardwick wants in a player except his kicking (which from what I saw on Saturday has certainly improved from previous seasons.

Amazing isn't it? We dominate the game/I50 count and the pencil kicks 2 goals against a simply awful opposition in perfect conditions and he's the answer to our tall forward issues?
