Does IMO but eventually we'll need to do better than both so it's a mute point.
Astbury on the other hand doesn't have the same problem with ball in hand. Far more fluid and makes good decisions.

Why Luke is clearly still getting a game is we have few genuine defensive talls who can negate a strong opposing forward.

Maybe even a 'moot' point.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Some of the things he does give me the *smile* sometimes, but I have to admit he's tough. When Waite's foot hit him in the goolies he didn't even flinch.

Which is a shame really. Had he grabbed the jewels and rolled on the ground for a few seconds I reckon Waite may have got some weeks. As it stands I reckon it'll be overlooked.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

mcguane is an okay player
problem is hes not a fullback or centre halfback, in the ideal world he plays on the third tall forward.
tigers need a man mountain fullback like rutten at the crows.
mcguane moore and the others then support the fullback.

Oops. I've done that before. :p
What the hey is a 'Moot' anyway?

"In American law, a matter is moot if further legal proceedings with regard to it can have no effect, or events have placed it beyond the reach of the law. Thereby the matter has been deprived of practical significance or rendered purely academic."

From wikipedia.

Like i said.Amusing.You acknowledge that he doesn,t have the skills[Disposal] to be a link player yet you want him to provide an option. So which is it?

I'm glad you're easily amused. The answer is obvious. He shouldn't be playing full-stop as he's not AFL class in key position or disposal skills. But since he is playing, due to us not yet having the required skilled players, if he's playing on a slow lug of a ruckman, then, he has to be a link player. If his task was to wear Waite like a glove then that's his task. But as I've said a number of times already, once Waite was off he should have been providing more run as a link player to take advantage of the circumstances. Frankly, I don't know too many players in the backline today who aren't able to also provide the option as a link player as required. That's the flexibility required of a backman today no matter how tall. I don't subscribe to the theory you seem to be trying to make for me that is, if he doesn't have the required disposal skills, he should just stand there like a mullet.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Played alright I thought.
But fair dinkum what was he thinking with the hit on Ray.....
surely with Rance and Moore gone for weeks you'd think he'd pull his head in.........he'll get more weeks than Rance without a doubt.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Still has massive brain fades and is suspect with the ball. Tries hard.

The Ray hit will get him 5 or 6 weeks.

Time for Grimes or Thursfield.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Yep thought he actually held Reiwoldt well tonight. He's gone for sure though. Thursfield will most likely be his replacement as we have no other 'senior' key backmen available now.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Was really annoyed with the lead-up to the bump by muscles on Ray.

Firstly, on the opposite boundary it was Gamble who dragged Newy to the ground - free kick against Chris for what the umpire motioned as throwing the player to the ground(!) - that got the crowd wild, then a push in the back that wasn't paid in the next contest that is usually paid every day of the week that just increased the frustration for our players which I reckon is why Luke went in as hard as he did. He looked like a hard done player who wanted to hurt someone because of some dodgy decisions.

I completely blame the umpire for allowing the situation to get out of hand and I reckon Luke will go because he slightly left the ground and got him high.

Luke McGuane = Suspended

Yep he is unfortunately. He left the ground with that bump and I foresee a 4 match penalty coming.

It's unfortunate because he did an admirable job on Rooey after a slow(loose) start.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Battles hard but no doubt the dumbest footballer on the planet.
