That's a sh!thouse comment Scooper. Was probably still feeling the effects last Friday night.

Not really ToO, he gave away cheap late free kicks that were not tough, he was giving lip service to the Saints despite not getting a kick himself.

To me, that is plastic tough. The week before isn't a excuse for that.

Apologies Scoop, I thought you were referring to the week before when was was nearly sawn in two by a goal post.
Luke may be many things but he's certainly not soft and I resent the insinuation tbh.

His game on Friday night had many soft efforts, cheapshots, lip service . One of the more stupid games I have seen at AFL level.

but yet his opponent did little. he gave away 5 free kicks. too many. 1 was very soft on the goal line when he bumped a saint trying to mark, another was very soft when he nudged kosi with his hip in a marking contest, another was holding the ball in the middle of the ground when he stumbled into a tackle. one of the other 2 free kicks was a soft and silly hand in the back late in the game. game was already over- but a little silly. cant remember the other free he gave away. he didnt give away any 50s.
he had a disposal efficiency of 100%.
but yes, not his best game.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Most frees given away vs frees received (minimum = 100 free kicks)

FF/TF Player            FF  FA
-------------------------------
30.50 Franklin, Lance    97 221
31.93 Clark, Mitch      38  81
33.06 Hargrave, Ryan    80 162
33.17 Staker, Brent      69 139
33.20 Minson, Will      83 167
33.65 Taylor, Simon A.  71 140
34.75 Enright, Corey    82 154
34.78 McGuane, Luke      40  75

The only KPD on the list, excluding Staker who's really a third tall/swingman.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

No suprise in those stats LTRTR.

Muscles & Jake King. Smack in the same group for leysy.

Both can fill a hole on a temporary basis by doing a job on occasion.

Both also have remarkably similar attributes & drawbacks that we all know about.

Both will need to be upgraded on as we start our climb.

Zero difference in them in leysy's eyes.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

free kicks given away this year by a few KPDs:
Fletcher 12
Jamison 12
Tarrant 16
Chaplin 13
Lonergan 15
McGuane 15
Dawson 11
Gilham 14

Interestingly, King was ahead of the ledger 66-45 until Wallacegate. Since then he's 14-26. His name's mud; no wonder he contemplated sueing.

Jake King - frees for 80 frees against 71 (most rubbish ;D) Significant difference I would have thought.

King and Mcguane are chalk and cheese. One of them is useful.

No certainly not.
McGuane is not immune to criticism for his game the other night, it wasn't good enough but will that game be enough to drop him?
We'll see..

this year

Would seem a little more relevant to those stats provided by L2R on this occasion.
No worse than many others this year particularly considering it's been raining into our defensive 50 for most of the first half of the season.

McGuane is more useful than King. McGuane plays key position CHB and there's not many overtaking him/better options at the moment which says more about our list than anything. We have many midfielders that are a lot better options than King.

Fair call, every player on that list is worse than 50/50 for FF:FA in 2010. It'd be handy to know where McGuane's giving them away in relation to the goals.

Agreed.
Given Luke's played 32 games to Jake's 12 over the last 2 years would have his coaches in agreement.

Leysy wasnt talking about Kings free's, just in general.

But defensive there Lamb. ;D

After appearing to make genuine progress in the first half of 2009, McGuane's not coming along as well as I would've hoped for a player who's spent 40 of the last 41 games in the seniors.

If Kingy had played 32 and Mcguane 12 we would have won a lot more games just like Victoria's and Queensland's IQ both went up when Fev was drafted by the Lions ;D
