this is where our lack of a medium marking type hurts a bit i think.

Knights was starting to become that type. Was kicking them from positions where most of our players struggle. His loss was shown up in the first half when we struggled to get easy shots like we managed against Port.

a big risk of playing just 2 talls is injury.
one example, a couple of years ago when we drew with the saints we played 2 talls an jack went off very early. Morton became our full forward. last game he played for us i think.

i think we are getting closer to playing Edwards for McGuane tho.

Watching the game yesterday is was obvious what someone like Jeremy Howe would add to our forward half.

What if Fletcher plays on McGun?

There would be lanky arms and legs going everywhere!..........we might never get the knot untied! :p

lol...call in Mr Tickle

I'd be interested in setting some empirical benchmarks, that people could commit to, pre-game, that would kind of unequivocally make the doubters go 'yeah, he was good' if achieved, or 'yeah, he should go to coburg', by the advocates if they wernt acheived. Im pretty sure this is what the coaches do. It would be an interesting exercise for Jerry-Lee and DJ. I dont think it would be as hard as brokering peace between palestine and israel and it could save us alot of time.

I'll start

Jerry-Lee
12 disposals, 5 marks, 2 goals, 1 assist, 3 tackles

would earn his pay in eyes. If he fell clearly under these numbers, he'd need to take mark of the year or knock a KPB out cold with a hip and shoulder or the like.

otherwise, we just go round in round in circles, which is ok too.

Good idea

how did he get a game this week? joke!!!
Agree

He is only picked because of media hype surounding his turn around, but lets be honest, he has struggled to impact the game the last 3 weeks, and Edwards has been consistant.

I am not advocating recycled players over kids, however if our kids are not ready to step up, then I feel Edwards is a much better forward than McGuane in almost every way, possibly McGuan is better defensively, so does that mean Dimma has bias for defensive minded forwards, even if they are not kicking goals.
If Edwards can't get a game after the goals he has kicked in the 2s so far this year, why on earth did they draft him.

Wasting our time with this bloke. Yet another chronically deficient footballer who'll dine out and probably get another extension based on the ridiculous hype of a few slightly above average games and goals against weak sides, because he hit the plodder's jackpot of being drafted by Richmond, where mediocrity reigns supreme.

Agree. Dud. Don't think he won a single hit out to advantage when we played him in the ruck a couple of weeks back.

He did win a couple of inspiring dropped marks though, so I think it was a pretty even performance overall. Think his rucking is a bit over-rated, thought Kingy showed more promise.

Do you think his form has been sufficient the last 3 games Baloo?

Sufficient to keep his spot against the dopers ? I see it as a matchup need. Dopers have some decent tall timber out the back so we need to keep them busy to stop third manning up.

Aadwards is traditionally a flat track bully. With Luke we know we'll get a contest and as someone said, it could take a while to sort out if MGun and go go gadget tripper get tangled.

I don't know who else we could play there who wold tie te sake kind of contest and demands attention from the opposition.

Muscles may very well have done a minor knee last week. But he did his nana again too.

What I think happened is that he lost his spot as #1/2 forward because Vickery emerged in close to his best game for the club and took his mantle.

I'm a big fan of Lace-out's work. But we knew at the start of the season that we wanted somebody else to take the #1/2 forward role and Vickery is growing into that now.

It's back on Luke to see if he can grow again.

My view of McGuane has changed drastically over the last twelve months. I think he grows when he knows he'll get the arse if he doesn't. Drop him if he fails this week? Sure. But he won't. I like the view Dimma publicly takes of temper 50m penalties. (Newman?) I think Lovelace is on notice. It's not an accident that Clark says about A. Edwards's workrate in the Magoos that it is "admirable."

His form has been in decline. This bloke, knee or no knee, has to smarten up.

I said earlier that I think he's got 1 more game credit before he gets dropped back to Coburg so understand that he was chosen for tonight. But another under performing game and there won't be much option but to play AE.
