Luke McGuane

has been great at times this year but a poor couple of weeks..meanwhile aaron edwards has been excellent in the reserves..its a no brainer..a edwrds in for the dreamtime game and luke out

Has enough runs on the board this year for 1 crap game.
We'll need his fwd pressure against the Dons which A Edwards lacks... Doubt Aaron kicking his 2 goals would out way Luke's influence

I think he was found out today. Was given the pea in the pod role today and got many opportunities one out or better today in the first half, particularly the first quarter and made a real hash of most of his chances!

Beanie would be perfect if he wasn't still green.! Need to get him in the hothouse for a possible finals cameo!

Wont go into McGuane himself as leysy has said his opinion many times over the years.

But personnel aside how much better did we look when we went with just the two talls in our forward line. The difference was stark.

All of a sudden we had space and movement thus players upfield were forced to deliver rather than bomb. Looked so much better.

That was opposed to the static ugly entries we had in the first half & most of the year to be honest.

McGuane out for a runner is leysy's call. Even if its a battler of equal proportions like White its a big win ILO.

Agree the structure looked a lot better when the change was made.

Yep, and Vickery led hard at the ball carrier.

What we need in that third forward is what Troy Taylor could have been. A quick bloke with ground game who can mark.

I reckon Luke has 1 more credit game in the bank. 11 goals in the first 5 games and 2 in the last 3. Another non productive game V Essendon and it may be Aaron's turn.

Heard a whisper today we were very keen on Jeremy Howe in his draft year but he went earlier than we expected.

He too would be ideal.

Just the quick medium who can play (or leap) tall is exactly what we need for that role. Not sure we have it on our list ATM Spook.

Agree with this, what might have been.

Madonna in the future (actually a very nice mark for his size), Beanie? but in the interim perhaps Petterd?

That 50 metre penalty was inexcusable.

Seeing only 1 in of his 3 kicks hits the mark why do people expect his throws to be any different.

Noticed when he slid on his knees to take a grab that he dug in and took out a sizeable divot......got up with a grimace of pain. Listed in the paper today as having injured his knee.
Think he may have just jarred it, but it does explain why he was subbed and why he was not as mobile as we would have hoped.
Doubt he will be dropped just yet, but Edwards is definitely breathing down his neck.

Makes sense. If not, his form has dropped off, as fringe players form does. Back to the 2s to regroup would be a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

Wheels starting to fall off again. Seems to be progressibely getting worse each week. Missed easy marks tonight and got in the way of team mates. Just wasn't pretty.

spends more time out of the game than in it. and can't take a contested mark either. time for a stint at coburg

Classic Richmond spanner that plays a couple of good games every 20 and gets to dine out on it for the whole season.

We will know we are a serious side the day McGuane and Jackson can't get a sniff in our starting 22. Hopefully that day is soon.

you forgot to mention newman.

been arguing this for a few weeks now. our forward line is too top heavy.

this is where our lack of a medium marking type hurts a bit i think.
a big risk of playing just 2 talls is injury.
one example, a couple of years ago when we drew with the saints we played 2 talls an jack went off very early. Morton became our full forward. last game he played for us i think.

i think we are getting closer to playing Edwards for McGuane tho.

Agree 100%.

McCarey has tailed off and turned back into McGuane . Really needed the medium size marking outlet at times yesterday , many times we used Nahas or King as the target and that doesn't work.

I would bring in A. Edwards this week.
